Title: Sr. SQL Database Administrator

Location: Metro Detroit, MI

Citizenship: U.S. Citizen/GreenCard Holder

Duration: contract

Department: Information Systems


Job Summary:

The Database Administrator is responsible maintaining systems, tuning, aiding in design and solving database issues for systems running SQL server 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2012.

Job Responsibilities:

Experience setting up backups and recovery scripts.

Troubleshoot SQL Server service outages as they occur.

Ability to create stored procedures to facilitate processing and maintenance.

Experience working with very large databases.

Ability to automate everyday tasks using stored procedures, PowerShell or other language.

Experience with Mirroring, Logshipping, Service Broker, Partitioning, Change Data Capture, Clustering and other options for SQL Server.

Understanding of tuning.

Configure SQL Server monitoring utilities.

Install and configure new SQL Server instances.

Deploy database change scripts.

When performance issues arise, determine the most effective way to increase performance including hardware purchases, server configuration changes, or index/query changes.

Document the company's database environment.

SSIS experience for loading data into systems (ETL).

Experience maintaining SSAS.

Ensure all database servers are backed up in a way that meets the business's Recovery Point Objectives (RPO).





Qualifications
  • BS in Information Technology or Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator.
  • Strong T-SQL and SQL Server skills.
  • Experience working with large databases.
