Crawford, Murphy & Tilly is seeking an experienced Transportation Planning Project Manager to help lead transportation planning studies that shape safer, more connected, and more resilient communities.

As an Experienced Transportation Planning Project Manager, you'll play a key role in collaborating with planners, engineers, environmental scientists, technicians, public and private agencies, and community stakeholders to develop transportation solutions that enhance mobility, safety, and quality of life. You will manage planning studies, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, support client relationships, and guide projects from concept through implementation while contributing to meaningful infrastructure and community planning initiatives. This position offers opportunities to expand project leadership responsibilities, strengthen client engagement, and advance your career within a collaborative and growing transportation planning practice.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Manage transportation planning projects and studies.
  • Serve as lead planner on assigned projects.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Prepare transportation planning studies and technical deliverables.
  • Develop reports, maps, exhibits, and presentations.
  • Utilize GIS and planning analysis tools proficiently.
  • Lead or support client meetings, workshops, and public engagement activities.
  • Support the development of strong client relationships.
  • Manage or monitor project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Lead or support business development activities, proposals, and project pursuits.
  • Mentor junior planners and support staff development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Here is what you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, Community Development, Geography, or related Field required
  • 8 years' minimum experience in transportation planning, urban planning, community development, or related discipline
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification
  • Proficient in managing transportation planning projects and studies
  • Proficient in transportation planning principles, practices, and methodologies
  • Proficient at coordinating project teams, schedules, budgets, and deliverables
  • Proficient at preparing technical reports, planning documents, maps, and presentations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficient with ESRI, ArcGIS, Sketch UP, Adobe Suite, and other appropriate planning software
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to build and maintain positive client relationships,
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and project management skills
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to support project, client, or stakeholder needs.

Ideally, you will also have:

  • Experience working with municipalities, counties, MPOs, DOTs, or other public agencies
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating public meeting, workshops, or stakeholder engagement activates.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and supporting business development, proposals, and project pursuits
  • Experience with transportation modeling, corridor studies, safety studies, or multimodal planning initiatives
  • A desire to further develop and implement business development skills

The expected compensation range for this position is $95,000 - $125,000 annually. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on numerous factors, including but not limited to individual education, qualifications, prior work experience, and geographic location.
