Arcadis is seeking a Water/Wastewater Engineer to join our Resilience Water Team in Mobile, Alabama. The role requires a self‑motivated engineer who can lead design efforts, mentor junior staff, and execute projects within the municipal Water / Wastewater market.

Role accountabilities
  • Provide leadership, technical knowledge, and experience to advance our design team capabilities.
  • Lead project tasks in collaboration with project managers and clients, covering planning, design, permitting, and construction of wastewater and/or reclaimed water facilities, including treatment facilities and conveyance systems.
  • Prepare detailed engineering calculations and analysis, utilizing design software to solve complex issues.
  • Manage and lead condition assessment evaluations for water/wastewater system assets, such as treatment facilities, pipelines, and pump/lift stations.
  • Develop and meet scope, delivery schedules, and project budgets for each assignment.
  • Work with project managers and area managers to determine needs, provide solutions, and participate in the preparation of winning proposals and presentations.
  • Strengthen client relationships through professionalism and technical expertise during all client meetings.
  • Supervise and support the work of others, mentoring junior-level engineers and design/drafting technical staff.
  • Ensure project compliance with all Arcadis practices, quality, and safety standards.
  • Some travel may be required for project meetings, site visits, client meetings, and construction oversight.
Qualifications & ExperienceRequired Qualifications
  • At least 7 years of experience in water/wastewater design, including leading design projects and managing multi‑disciplinary design teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Structural, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Alabama or the ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months of hire.
Key Skills/Attributes
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent technical writing and documentation management, including project drawings, specifications, schedules, cost estimates, permit applications, RFIs, and as‑built drawings.
  • Client relationship skills and a proven track record of delivering engineering projects that meet client expectations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Primary focus on the water/wastewater municipal market with experience in permitting and construction of water and wastewater process mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with distribution, conveyance, and pumping and storage facilities in the Gulf region.
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical, Structural, or Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Active participation in regional or national professional associations.
