JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Structural Engineer will be primarily responsible for supporting projects and performing technical work as the project lead.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The responsibilities listed are fundamental to the position and must be performed successfully to achieve the key performance objectives of the role. Other responsibilities may be assigned.
  • Conduct structural analysis of new structures and retrofit of existing structures.
  • Manage structural efforts on several projects simultaneously.
  • Manage the project scope of work, budget and deliverables.
  • Provide oversight of structural engineering projects.
  • Develop engineering estimates, scopes of work, deliverables and second and third level schedules.
  • Assist with discipline forecast requirements.
  • Review the work of other engineers for deliverables are technically correct, coordinated with other disciplines, per Salas O'Brien and/or clients standards, on-time and within budget.
  • Communicate and coordinate with other disciplines.
  • Experience with all design phases of engineering projects.
  • Supervision and guidance for other mid and junior level engineers and designers.
  • Experience with development of effort hours for proposal development.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices with a focus on industrial design including structural steel, concrete and foundations.
  • Ability to lead a project team by communicating essential information and providing interdisciplinary interface.
  • Exceptional time management skills, with the ability to maintain flexibility while managing multiple deadlines and projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate within a team, across disciplines, and interface with clients.
  • Fundamental mastery of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk's Revit Structure, AutoCAD, and Navisworks Manage strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Teams is preferred but not required.
  • Solid working knowledge of structural analysis software such as RISA, STAAD, or RAM Structural System

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, MS a plus.
  • 8+ years of relevant structural design experience.
  • 8+ years in design of processing, chemical, pharmaceutical, and general manufacturing projects.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration required, Structural Engineer (SE) registration preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Working Hours/Environment:
  • Hours average 40 per week; may require additional hours including evening and weekends depending on business needs.
  • Work typically performed in an indoor office setting/client site.
  • Office environment, construction area or factory floor environment not requiring the lifting or moving of heavy loads.
  • May require climbing ladders, scaffolding and working significantly above ground elevation
  • May involve working in a high noise ambient, elevated temperatures, dust, dirt, and hazardous chemicals requiring protective clothing.
  • Work may involve traveling to customers' facilities. A valid driver's license or other assured means of transportation to job sites is essential.

Travel: Intermittent but up to 25%
Physical Demands:
  • Frequently required to sit at a desk/workstation for long period of time.
  • Ability to work at a computer terminal for extended periods of time.
  • Light Lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Ability to speak to and hear employees/clients via phone or in person.
  • Body motor skills sufficient to enable incumbent to move around an office environment.
  • Ability to analyze unique situations and develop appropriate response.
