Mission Software Engineer (Experienced or Senior)

The Boeing Company is looking for a Mission Software Engineer (Experienced or Senior) to join the Phantom Works Open Architecture Systems Integrated Software (OASIS) Solutions team located in Berkeley, MO. (St. Louis, MO) This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization.This position requires an Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance.

Phantom Works is an advanced research and development organization responsible for engaging customers through cutting-edge visual modeling and simulation; innovating cross-cutting concepts and technologies; prototyping solutions to extend current products and win new programs; and developing new businesses and entering new markets. The organization is seeking software engineers to perform software design and development for Space-based effects in support of air domain missions.

The selected team member enjoys working collaboratively with others, has a commitment to customer satisfaction and process improvement, and is successful working in a multi-contract/multi-program environment. He/she will support the development of solutions to a wide range of complex problems that require ingenuity and innovation. He/she should be adaptable to new development environments and eager to work with and learn new technologies

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including: Experienced or Senior Software Engineer.

Position Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, tests, and maintains non-embedded software throughout the end-to-end lifecycle that meets industry, customer, safety, and regulation standards.

  • Reviews, analyzes, and translates customer requirements into initial design of software products.

  • Leads junior engineers in software development

  • Develops interface definitions

  • Performs unit and integration testing

  • Participates in peer reviews

  • Supports software system integration and test

  • Creates software documentation

  • Interfaces with various software programming languages

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Active U.S. Secret Security clearance

  • 5+ years of Software Engineering experience

  • 5+ years of experience with C++

  • 1+ years of MATLAB

  • 1+ years of Experience with Agile Software development lifecycle

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Level 3: Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 5+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor's Degree and 9+ years of directly related work experience OR 13+

  • years of related, relevant experience

  • Level 4: Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 9+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor's Degree and 13+ years of directly related work experience OR 17+ years of related, relevant experience

  • Active Top Secret

  • Familiarity with Physics-Based Modeling software packages.

  • Physics knowledge in one or more of the following: flight dynamics, sensors, electromagnetics, weapon models, terrain models, or flight control; but not required.

  • Familiarity with DevSecOps: version control, continuous integration, containers, code analysis tools (Git, GitLab, or CMake)

  • Experience working with Linux and Windows

  • Real time software development experience, but not required

  • Experience working with MATLAB Coder, but not required

  • Experience with Java in a work environment or school
