As a Lead Software Engineer - Java/Spring Boot/AWS at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Technology's Consumer and Community Banking Risk Decision team, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.

Job responsibilities

  • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
  • Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
  • Hands-on experience leading system design, application development, testing, deployment, and production operational stability in missioncritical environments
  • Advanced proficiency in Java (Java 17+) with Spring Boot, including writing threadsafe, highly concurrent code on the JVM
  • Proven experience building cloudnative Java microservices and largescale distributed systems supporting both realtime and batch processing
  • Deep expertise across the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from design and development through release, monitoring, and support
    Strong command of CI/CD, automation, application resiliency, and security, with a focus on continuous delivery and production excellence
  • Extensive experience with eventdriven architectures and distributed messaging platforms such as Kafka
  • Practical, handson experience running production workloads on AWS, leveraging services such as EKS, ECS, S3, ALB/NLB, DynamoDB, and Aurora
  • Advanced containerization and orchestration experience using Docker and Kubernetes in highavailability production environments
  • Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB) and performance tuning at scale
  • Strong experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform) and observability tooling including Grafana, Splunk, Dynatrace, Datadog, and CloudWatch
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Experience with Databricks and largescale data processing platforms
  • Exposure to mobile technologies and mobile application development ecosystems
  • Handson experience applying machine learning concepts in production systems
  • Familiarity with advanced SQL and NoSQL databases such as CockroachDB and Cassandra
  • Experience working with dataintensive or analyticsdriven applications
  • Knowledge of AI/ML frameworks or cloudnative data services
  • Background in modern data architectures supporting realtime decisioning
