HDR is looking for a Commissioning Agent to join our team in Phoenix. By mitigating risk, our Commissioning teamgets building to work reliably. We manage and validate the commissioning of building engineering services from the earliest design stages through to the completion of complex integrated test procedures. We address each step of the process through a thorough implementation of the five strategic stages in commissioning modern buildings. Supported by risk identification, lessons to be learned, and a comprehensive certification process, we provide a complete assessment of the status of commissioning, progress forecasting, and what specific work is planned in the short term. Our approach provides a robust framework that supports forward looking, collaborative teamwork for all stakeholders. HDR is an established leader in building commissioning in Europe and we are rapidly growing and have opportunities in a variety of locations across the United States. The Commissioning Agent will see that the processes involved in the commissioning of engineering services systems have been safely, diligently, and accurately planned, managed, tested and documented.
This will include:
- Acting as a key point of client contact.
- Making full use of the company's management systems in achieving the primary objective.
- Proactively progressing commissioning activities throughout the project cycle in conjunction with the General Contractor and vendors.
- Seeing that systems are set to work optimally and verified as such, in accordance with the design requirements.
- Providing consultative advice in determining commissioning and performance requirements, commissioning strategies, programs, scopes of work, test scripts, etc.
- Mentoring junior staff.
- Delivering the project in full accordance with our appointment to include technical and commercial compliance.
- Commercially managing project changes.
- Being accountable for the quality of service, delivery, and management of client expectations.
- Providing full compliance with project-related safety insofar as it relates to our work.
- Providing positive and effective management and setting an appropriate example to other members of the team.
- Providing feedback for staff appraisals.
- Assisting in continuing to develop the Company's management systems and processes.
- Working closely with many different members of a construction project team.
- Thinking and communicating clearly, remaining focused, and leading construction delivery staff while remaining
motivated during fast-moving periods of complex site activity.


This position is subject to a preemployment drug test.


Preferred Qualifications
- A commissioning professional as certified by an accredited agency
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Professional Engineer preferred
- Federal Government commissioning experience
- Commissioning certification preferred (CxA, CCP, BCxP, or CBCP)
- LEED AP or LEED Associate
- Management/Commissioning Management
- Have one or more specific, relevant, technical expertise
- Proficiency in HVAC load calculation software such as Trace or IES
- Preference given to local candidates

Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of 4 years of industry experience dealing with mechanical, electrical and controls disciplines
  • Proven ability to lead commissioning efforts from design through project completion
  • Should have a passion for sustainability and knowledge of the commissioning process and experience with design, installation and operation of building systems (including but not limited to: HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and controls)
  • Must be willing to travel to site-based locations as reasonably based on HDR needs
  • Must have demonstrated ability to troubleshoot HVAC, TAB, and Controls and have excellent report writing skills
  • Must have a solid understanding of operational requirements, safety requirements, code inspections and maintenance considerations
  • Strong written, verbal communication and time management skills; exceptional interpersonal skills; ability to interact with people at all levels
  • Technical knowledge of MEP systems and HVAC expertise
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Multitasking ability
  • Valid driver's license
