Job description

This position is based in our Reston, VA office and offers a hybrid work schedule.

Verisign's "ATLAS" platform implementation team is a high performing, agile team who builds horizontally scalable, high performance, and highly available systems. As part of the team, you will be involved in designing and implementing new capabilities for this platform, and in deployment using CI/CD principles. An ideal candidate will care about productivity and automation.  You will be working with software that fundamentally enables the internet to operate at scale.

We're looking for a junior to mid-level experienced software automation engineer who demonstrates:

Requirements:

  • Has solid understanding of writing software in a system-level programming language (C, C++, Rust)
  • Proven foundation in Computer Science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, operating systems, object-oriented design)
  • Understanding of CI/CD concepts and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Groovy, GitHub)
  • Experience with or a strong willingness to learn infrastructure automation and platform engineering technologies such as Terraform, Ansible, Puppet and OpenStack
  • Proficient with Linux
  • Python or similar scripting language
  • Outstanding problem solving and trouble-shooting skills
  • Excellent teammate who enjoys a collaborative team environment

Relevant Experience:

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in software development
  • 2+ years development in a system-level programming language
  • Working on an Agile software development team
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience

Bonus Skills:

  • Familiarity with DNS at the protocol level
  • Familiarity with containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes
  • Exposure to behavior-driven testing frameworks such as Python Behave or Cucumber

The pay range is $108,900 - $147,300.

The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is noted above, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience. Verisign offers a discretionary bonus which is based on individual and company performance, and certain roles may be eligible for discretionary stock awards.
