Job description

ABOUT THIS ROLE

As a Senior Fullstack Software Engineer II at LVT, you will play a critical role in designing, building, debugging, and testing software across the LVT UI surface area and the backend services it depends on. You will own work end-to-end: from React and Next.js components and server actions, through GraphQL schema and resolver design, into relational data, message brokers, and real-time edge flows. This role demands strong engineering judgment, mentorship, and a willingness to dig into unfamiliar codebases to unblock the UI team and the customers we serve.

 ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Deliver high quality software end-to-end. You love to ship. Your primary responsibility will be to deliver high quality software that creates value for customers and meets product and engineering requirements across the stack - UI, BFF and server actions, GraphQL APIs, and supporting REST services. You will take ownership to ship your code into production and collaborate with QA, DevOps, SecOps, Architecture, and adjacent service teams to ensure a timely and reliable release of your software.
  • Cross-service debugging and contribution. When a customer-facing bug spans the UI, the GraphQL gateway, a backend subgraph, the authorization layer, or a legacy app, you will trace it across service boundaries, propose the right fix at the right layer, and contribute the change directly to whichever repo owns the problem.
  • Requirements gathering and documentation. When requirements are missing you will be proactive to find them out and document them, including data contracts between services, federated entity relationships, and authorization rules.
  • Reliability and performance. To ensure that your software is reliable and performant you will write and run tests, log metrics, and build dashboards and alerts. You will take ownership of the services you support and be the first to know if anything is going wrong, including the real-time WebSocket and device-control paths that drive customer workflows.
  • Team work. You will provide mentorship to mid-level and junior engineers across both frontend and backend disciplines and encourage the adoption of modern software engineering methodologies and technologies. You will collaborate with other software teams and company departments and work towards quality and results.
  • Continuous Improvement. You'll be on the lookout for ways to streamline our processes - schema federation hygiene, type-safety across the stack, CI/CD speed, deprecation of legacy surfaces - and work to optimize processes across teams and not a local minimum.
 OUR IDEAL CANDIDATERequired:
  • 6+ years of professional development experience with TypeScript on both client and server
  • Production experience with React and Next.js (App Router)
  • Production experience with Node.js building backend services, ideally with NestJS
  • Strong GraphQL experience: Apollo Server, schema design, resolvers, and subscriptions
  • Experience designing and consuming REST APIs
  • Experience with relational databases (MySQL preferred) and a query builder or ORM such as Knex, including writing migrations, optimizing queries, and reasoning about data ownership across services
  • Working knowledge of WebSocket-based real-time systems, such as GraphQL subscriptions over WebSockets
  • Working knowledge of authentication and authorization patterns - OAuth/OIDC, JWT validation, and policy-based authorization
  • Understanding and enthusiasm for working with Docker, container orchestration, and CI/CD
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to navigate complex technical challenges and debug legacy software (including older React and Webpack codebases) that lacks test coverage and documentation
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to drive cross-team design discussions when a feature spans multiple services
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and switch between priorities quickly
  • Experience with agile software development methodologies and familiarity with related tools and processes
Nice to have:
  • Apollo Federation experience - subgraph schema design, entity resolution, and contract checks
  • Message broker experience - RabbitMQ or similar
  • Device or IoT protocols such as MQTT
  • Policy-engine experience - Cedar, OPA, or comparable ReBAC/ABAC systems
  • Observability tooling - OpenTelemetry, Sentry, and Coralogix (or Datadog/New Relic equivalents)
  • Kubernetes and GitOps deployment workflows (e.g., ArgoCD)
  • Monorepo tooling such as Turbo, Bun, or Nx
  • Comfort reading across language boundaries (Rust, Go, or PHP) even without writing them daily
  • Background touching IoT, video streaming, or physical security platforms
