As a Junior RPA Developer, it is important to understand that AI can enhance robotic process automation by enabling more intelligent and adaptive workflows. However, AI is unlikely to fully replace RPA, as RPA focuses on automating repetitive tasks, which still require human oversight and development skills. Combining RPA with AI tools can create more efficient automation solutions, but human expertise remains essential for design, implementation, and maintenance.

Which is better, RPA or Python?

For a Junior RPA Developer, RPA tools like UiPath or Automation Anywhere are specialized for automating business processes with minimal coding, while Python is a versatile programming language used for a wide range of automation, data analysis, and development tasks. Learning both can enhance your ability to develop and maintain automation solutions effectively.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Junior RPA Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Junior RPA Developer, you need foundational programming knowledge (e.g., Python, .NET, or Java), understanding of process automation concepts, and a relevant degree in computer science or a similar field. Familiarity with RPA platforms like UiPath, Blue Prism, or Automation Anywhere, and certifications in these tools are highly beneficial. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help you collaborate with business teams and troubleshoot automation issues. These competencies are vital for building reliable automation solutions that streamline business processes and drive operational efficiency.

What Does a Junior RPA Developer Do?

Robotic process automation (RPA) uses artificial intelligence or software “robots” to perform automated tasks. Your duties as a junior RPA developer involve working on new or existing automation systems for a company, potentially under the supervision of a more senior employee. You analyze your employer or client’s needs and existing AI systems, and you develop new application programs or modify and improve existing software. You then test the new RPA application and debug it if necessary. Your duties and responsibilities include assisting the IT team with configuration, implementation, and troubleshooting, and you may stick around to help non-technical employees learn to use the software.

This role leads end-to-end supply chain strategy across planning, sourcing, procurement, inventory, logistics, and supplier performance, while advancing a modern operating model grounded in data, analytics, automation, and AI-enabled decision making. This position will transform supply chain from a traditional cost center into a predictive, autonomous engine. The role is not about managing spreadsheets but rather architecting the future of operations through integrating AI, Machine Learning and RPA into our Plan-to-Pay workflows.

This leader will shape the future of the supply chain by integrating predictive analytics, digital planning capabilities, real-time performance visibility, and intelligent workflow automation into core operations. The VP will partner across operations, finance, IT, commercial, and field leadership to improve forecast accuracy, optimize working capital, reduce risk, and create a more agile and insight-driven supply chain organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute an enterprise supply chain strategy aligned with business goals, operational priorities, and long-term growth.
  • Lead the transformation of the supply chain into a more data-driven, digitally enabled, and AI-informed function.
  • Utilizing machine learning models to enhance demand forecasting, inventory optimization, and identifying areas for opportunity.
  • Ability to bridge the gap between technical data science and operational execution
  • Establish a roadmap for supply chain modernization, including advanced planning, automation, analytics, and systems integration.
  • Serve as a key advisor to executive leadership on supply chain performance, risk, market dynamics, and opportunities for operational improvement.
  • Champion the use of AI and advanced analytics to improve demand forecasting, inventory optimization, supplier risk monitoring, transportation planning, and scenario modeling.
  • Build a supply chain operating environment supported by high-quality data, standardized metrics, and near real-time dashboards.
  • Drive adoption of predictive and prescriptive analytics to support faster, better-informed business decisions.
  • Lead sourcing and procurement strategies that improve total cost, supplier performance, contract value, and continuity of supply.
  • Optimize inventory strategies through analytics-based segmentation, service-level modeling, and demand variability insights.
  • Own supply chain KPIs, including service levels, forecast accuracy, inventory turns, cost savings, on-time delivery, supplier performance, and working capital efficiency.
  • Use data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for continuous improvement across the end-to-end value chain.
  • Lead regular business reviews with stakeholders using fact-based insights and scenario analysis.
  • Embed continuous improvement principles and digital innovation into day-to-day operations.
  • Coach and develop leaders who can scale modern supply chain practices and digital capabilities across the function.
  • Foster strong cross-functional alignment with operations, finance, technology, and commercial teams.
  • Live the Culture of the Possible by challenging business as usual and capitalizing on technology to enhance capital stewardship.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Competencies

  • Proven track record designing and deploying RPA that eliminates manual data entry across procurement, logistics and invoicing; shifting a team's focus to high value strategy.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute enterprise supply chain strategy aligned with short- and long-term business goals, ensuring security of supply, operational performance, and productivity.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present supply chain strategy, business recommendations, and risk-based decisions clearly to senior management and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated success building, leading, and developing high-performing, multi-disciplinary supply chain teams through coaching, mentoring, accountability, and succession planning.
  • Strong ability to work effectively across contracting, purchasing, logistics, materials/inventory management, operations, finance, HR, and legal to drive aligned business outcomes.
  • Experience leading organizational change, supply chain redesign, and process improvement initiatives, including automation and standardization efforts that reduce waste, improve efficiency, and enhance adaptability.
  • Experience in process discovery - identifying where automation can yield the highest return.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain strategic supplier relationships, lead supplier performance management, and negotiate sound commercial agreements that support long-term operational success.
  • Strong analytical, logical, and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to evaluate alternatives, weigh cost/benefit tradeoffs, solve complex problems, and make effective decisions under pressure.
  • Working knowledge of contract structures, business ethics, COPAS, SOX, and company policy compliance, with the ability to manage supplier and operational risk in a complex business environment.

Required Qualifications
