We are seeking an experienced and proactive Safety Manager to lead and continuously improve our Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) program across Canada and the United States. This leadership role is responsible for developing safety strategies, ensuring regulatory compliance, fostering a strong safety culture, and partnering with operational leaders to achieve industry-leading safety performance.

Position Summary

Based in Calgary, Alberta, the Safety Manager is responsible for leading and continuously improving Phasor Engineering's Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) program across our operations in Canada and the United States. Working closely with leadership, project teams, and field personnel, this role promotes a strong safety culture, ensures regulatory compliance, manages risk, and supports the safe execution of projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company's HSE Management System.
  • mentoring intermediate and junior safety personnel.
  • Development of process to facilitate safety engagement.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable provincial, federal, OSHA, CSA, ANSI, and client-specific safety requirements.
  • Oversee safety policies, procedures, audits, inspections, and contractor compliance programs (ISNetworld, Avetta, ComplyWorks, etc.).
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and reporting.
  • Monitor safety performance metrics and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Support return-to-work and workers' compensation programs in partnership with Human Resources.
  • Provide guidance and oversight for project safety planning, site inspections, hazard assessments, and field safety initiatives.
  • Develop and manage company-wide safety training and competency programs.
  • Mentor supervisors and managers in safety leadership and risk management practices.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on all HSE-related matters and promote a culture where safety is integrated into daily operations.

Requirements

  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation.
  • 8+ years of progressive health and safety experience, including leadership or management responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
  • Experience with incident investigations, audits, risk assessments, and contractor compliance platforms.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.

Preferred

  • Experience within utility, electrical construction, engineering, or energy industries.
  • Knowledge of both Canadian and U.S. safety regulations, including OSHA requirements.
  • COR Auditor certification and/or CRSP, CSP, CHSC, or similar professional designation.
  • Experience supporting multi-provincial and multi-state operations.
