Job description

Are you interested in working as a Camp Coach for a championship sports organization? The Miami HEAT marketing department is seeking a HEAT Camp Counselor! A Jr. HEAT Camp Coach's main responsibility is to teach the fundamentals of basketball to the children attending any of our Jr. HEAT events. They will be responsible for leading groups of children and providing a fun and safe basketball experience. A Jr. HEAT Coach will help young athletes acquire a feeling of high self-esteem, self-worth, and competence in a basketball setting. A Jr. HEAT Coach will be responsible for the safety and well-being of each participant.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following are examples of the various functions required. The job requirements are not limited to the items on this list.
  • Ensuring safe and healthy basketball environments for all participants.
  • Teach the fundamentals of basketball. Ball-handling, Shooting, Rebounding, Defense, Footwork, Passing, etc.
  • Assist with controlling campers to ensure efficient safety for all participants. Deal with disciplinary issues with the provided guidelines by Camp Director Tony Fiorentino.
  • Lead drills, stretches, team practices, and referee team games.
  • Always knowing where all assigned team members are. Never losing sight of assigned team members or any other participants.
  • Attend early morning staff meeting led by Camp Director Tony Fiorentino.
  • Help with the set-up and break down of our portable camp baskets.
  • Performing daily accurate sign out procedure with team parents.

Education and/or Experience
Very organized and detailed. This position requires an individual with a curiosity about working with children in a basketball camp setting and the desire to be a positive influence on children. Able to meet tight deadlines and adapt to a fast-paced, fluid environment while balancing multiple tasks at once. Must be proficient in Microsoft Applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop.
