Job description

At VTI Instruments, we're pushing the boundaries of precision data acquisition. Our modular instrumentation solutions power some of the world's most demanding test environments - from aerospace to cutting-edge R&D. If you're excited by complex technical challenges, customer impact, and working alongside a high-performing engineering team, this is your opportunity to make a real difference in fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.

As Applications Engineer, you'll serve as a trusted technical advisor, bridging our products, customers, and internal teams. You'll leverage deep product knowledge to evaluate, prioritize, and resolve technical and commercial inquiries, while helping customers successfully implement VTI solutions. You'll report to the Manager, Customer Experience & Planning UEI (United Electronic Industries) and play a key role across the full customer lifecycle, from pre-sale consultation to post-sale support, ensuring our solutions deliver real-world value.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as technical expert for VTI products, helping customers and internal teams successfully apply our solutions to real-world applications.
  • Evaluate and troubleshoot customer challenges, providing clear recommendations on product capabilities, integration, and optimization.
  • Partner with sales and product teams to develop compelling technical proposals and validate solutions aligned to customer requirements.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to business growth by articulating our value proposition and identifying differentiators in competitive scenarios.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Engineering and Product Marketing to resolve issues, validate designs, and influence product direction.
  • Identify market trends and customer needs, sharing insights to inform product roadmap decisions.
  • Develop and deliver training for customers, partners, and internal teams, including presentations, demos, and trade show support.
  • Create technical content such as application notes, white papers, and self-service tools to enable customer success and scale knowledge.
  • Take ownership of customer issues, ensuring timely resolution and strong communication throughout the process.
  • Mentor and support junior staff, fostering technical development and best practices.
  • Tavel to support customer engagement, training, and application activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in applications engineer, technical support, or customer-facing engineering roles (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Due to the nature of VTI Instrument's programs and products, applicants must have the legal right to work in the U.S. and additionally must be legally authorized to access export-controlled information and source code.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong customer focus with the ability to drive issues to resolution with sound judgment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to diverse audiences, including senior leadership.
  • Experience developing or supporting automated test systems (ATE), including tools such as Python, LabVIEW, LabWindows / CVI, Visual Studio, or similar.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex systems across hardware, software, and firmware.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Experience mentoring or leading team members.
  • Positive, collaborative mindset with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Industry experience in test and measurement or related field.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.
