Junior Quality Engineer – Onsite


Job Overview : We're seeking a motivated Junior Quality Engineer to join our Metrology Lab team at GM Performance Power Units in Concord, NC. In this role, you will support dimensional inspection and quality assurance activities for power unit components, helping ensure parts meet engineering and manufacturing requirements. Working alongside experienced engineers and metrology specialists, you will gain hands‑on experience with advanced measurement equipment, data analysis, and quality processes that support the development of Formula 1 power units.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Perform dimensional inspections of power unit components using metrology equipment and established inspection methods.

  • Support the development and execution of measurement routines for new and existing components.

  • Collect, analyze, and document measurement data to support engineering and manufacturing teams.

  • Assist with first article inspections and component validation activities.

  • Support routine metrology lab activities, including equipment calibration, maintenance, and organization.

  • Maintain inspection records, quality documentation, and measurement data within company systems.

  • Work with cross‑functional teams to help ensure compliance with quality standards and FIA regulatory requirements.

  • Escalate dimensional concerns and inspection findings to senior engineers and quality team members.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on product quality and measurement processes.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering , Industrial Engineering, or a related field

  • Internship, co‑op, or up to 2 years of experience in a manufacturing, quality, or engineering environment.

  • Basic understanding of dimensional metrology, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and engineering drawings.

  • Experience operating measurement equipment through coursework, internships, or professional experience.

  • Familiarity with coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) and metrology software is preferred.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and basic data analysis techniques.

  • Exposure to statistical process control (SPC), measurement system analysis (MSA), or quality tools is a plus.

  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and willingness to learn in a fast‑paced environment.

  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
