This position will initially focus on the execution and supplier-management work needed to keep production moving. The Senior Buyer will primarily manage existing outside-service suppliers that perform services on Client's parts. The current work is approximately 70% transactional and 30% strategic, with the role expected to move toward supplier relationship management, supplier projects, cost savings, and contract negotiation as purchasing tools and processes mature.
What You'll Do
* Place, track, expedite, and manage purchase orders for outside services, materials, equipment, and other assigned requirements.
* Coordinate parts sent to outside-service suppliers and maintain close follow-up to protect manufacturing schedules.
* Identify shortages and late deliveries early, drive recovery plans, and communicate status clearly to internal stakeholders.
* Own a portfolio of critical existing suppliers and conduct monthly business reviews using supplier scorecards and aligned performance data.
* Work with suppliers to identify root causes, corrective actions, and measurable improvements in on-time delivery, quality, responsiveness, and cost.
* Maintain accurate supplier, part, pricing, lead-time, minimum-order, and purchase-order data in the ERP system.

* Experience managing outside-service or outside-processing suppliers, or directly comparable suppliers whose performance affects production schedules.
* Ability to lead supplier performance discussions, interpret scorecards, align on data, and drive corrective actions.
* Strong manufacturing ERP experience. Epicor is preferred; SAP is considered transferable.
* Strong negotiation, contract-review, written communication, verbal communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and remain composed in a shortage-driven environment.

* Experience mentoring or advising less-experienced buyers.
* Aerospace or defense experience is helpful, but Client will consider candidates from any manufacturing industry.
What Makes This Opportunity Different
* Own supplier relationships that directly affect production and customer delivery.
* Help stabilize tactical execution now and shape the team's transition toward more strategic supplier management.
* Work visibly across procurement, planning, scheduling, quality, manufacturing, engineering, and finance.
