Job Description Summary:
The Junior Product Engineer serves as a key technical interface between customers, sales, and internal engineering and product management teams for electrical connectors and cable assemblies. This role focuses on understanding customer needs, defining product requirements, providing technical and sales support, product selection assistance, and ensuring clear communication to and from our global teams to support successful customer design in's.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Customer Engagement & Requirements Definition
  • Act as a primary technical point of contact for customers during early-stage product discussions. Coordinate between our global sites and teams to provide a single channel to the customer in their time zone.
  • Work with customers to gather, clarify, and document product requirements, including electrical, mechanical, environmental, and regulatory needs and confirm product suitability.
  • Assist customers in product selection/configuration based on their applications
  • Interpret internal validation and performance data to ensure product suitability and application risk
  • Translate customer needs into clear internal specifications and requirements documents
  • Support technical discussions related to connector selection, cable construction, shielding, and performance expectations
  • Build and maintain product documentation with product managers and pricing / tech teams.

Quoting & Technical Sales Support
  • Partner with sales teams to review RFQs (Requests for Quote) and provide technical input
  • Assist in defining product scope, materials, and manufacturing processes for accurate costing
  • Help develop product concepts and preliminary solutions aligned with customer requirements
  • Participate in customer calls, design reviews, and technical presentations
  • Assist in the development and revision of pricing / stocking pkg strategies, price file creation, and cost analysis.

Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Coordinate tasks for a team, outline timelines for projects. Lead CFT meetings for product support scope.
  • Collaborate closely with design engineers to ensure customer requirements are clearly understood and properly implemented
  • Communicate product gaps, new feature or performance requirements to product managers.
  • Serve as a liaison between customers and internal teams during product development (specific to configuration and customization of standard product).
  • Support communication of design changes, feasibility concerns, and technical trade-offs
  • Provide technical guidance on standard products to internal teams for prototype and production ramp up.

Standard Product Development Support
  • Track project milestones and ensure alignment between customer expectations and internal deliverables
  • Ensure new product iterations/configurations are on time and align with NPI requirements.
  • Assist in managing new product introduction (NPI) from concept through production
  • Support prototype review and customer feedback cycles
  • Support engineering change requests (ECRs) and documentation updates

Quality & Issue Resolution
  • Support investigation of customer complaints or product issues by gathering field data and clarifying requirements
  • Participate in root cause discussions and help communicate findings and corrective actions to customers
  • Ensure customer specifications align with applicable standards and manufacturing capabilities

Qualifications
Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • 0-2 years of experience in engineering, applications engineering, or technical sales (internships included)
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems (signal, power, shielding, grounding concepts)
  • Familiarity with connectors, wire types, cable assemblies, and harnessing preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Comfortable working with BOMs, product specs, and cost drivers
  • Basic CAD familiarity is helpful but not required
  • Familiarity with ERP/PLM systems
  • Strong communication skills (especially explaining technical concepts to non-engineers)
  • Customer-focused mindset with strong listening and clarification skills
  • Ability to organize and document requirements clearly and accurately
  • Strong coordination and project tracking abilities
  • Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
  • Flexibility to work across global time zones as required.
