Job description

  • Lead and oversee software engineering for Pattern's central administrative, authentication, authorization, and security infrastructure
  • Maintain, scale, and optimize existing central authentication and authorization applications
  • Triage, scope, and build feature requests from cross-functional teams across Pattern
  • Write, test, and deploy back-end code using Ruby and Go
  • Design and enforce fine-grained RBAC across internal platforms and external APIs
  • Collaborate with engineers, product stakeholders, engineering leadership, and cross-functional teams to integrate core security services
  • Automate administrative workflows and integrate AI solutions to improve operational efficiency
  • Monitor performance, reduce technical debt, and ensure high system availability
  • Prioritize and build a high volume of feature requests while maintaining application stability and performance
  • Delegate and monitor repeatable feature and maintenance work with junior engineers
Requirements
  • 3+ years of back-end software engineering experience focused on core security, identity, or platform systems
  • Proven experience building and maintaining central Authentication and Authorization systems
  • Direct experience with RBAC/ABAC frameworks and security protocols including OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, and JWT
  • Strong capability to manage competing feature requests from multiple internal teams while maintaining legacy codebases
  • Solid background with relational databases, especially PostgreSQL
  • Experience with REST/gRPC APIs
  • Experience writing back-end code using Ruby and Go
