Job description

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Sr. Piping Designer supervises Piping projects and budgets for all phases of the piping design scope.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Piping Designer assists in planning schedules and workforce requirements for projects
  • Ownership of plant layout and design
  • Maintains and promotes a focus on Polaris' products, whether engineering, fabrication, or construction
  • Piping Designer ensures effective communication among other engineering disciplines and effective change management
  • The individual in this role assumes responsibility for cost, schedule, quantity, and budget control for assigned piping work
  • Leads project teams of Piping Designers and Drafters
  • Mentors Junior Piping Designers and Drafters, teaching by example and discourse the design craft
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Sr. Piping Designer has ten years of experience in piping design for Refining, Gas Processing, or LNG projects
  • The individual should have mastered current piping design, drafting responsibilities, and software packages
  • The candidate demonstrates a broad technical knowledge of design concepts and systems
  • Seven years of AutoCAD experience is required
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in plant layout, piping design, design modeling, and drafting as a Design Lead preferred
  • High School diploma required
  • College or associate degree preferred
  • Available for short‑term travel
  • Available to work overtime if necessary
  • Be able to obtain and maintain TWIC and client facility entry requirements
REPORTING REQUIREMENTS

Reports to the Piping Design Coordinator

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift to 40 pounds at times
  • Must be able to work in facilities, climbing ladder, stairs, and walking in warm temperatures
