Job description

The Senior Database Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, configuring, and maintaining enterprise database solutions, with a primary focus on Oracle technologies. This role requires deep hands-on expertise in Oracle PL/SQL, SQL, database design, performance tuning, and troubleshooting. Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, SSIS, or other database and integration technologies is preferred and will provide additional value. The individual will work across the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including Agile and Waterfall methodologies, and contribute to modern data initiatives such as AI-enabled solutions and iPaaS-based integrations. This position collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, reliable, and high-quality data solutions while following established database development and SDLC best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a primary Oracle database development resource, designing, developing, configuring, optimizing, and maintaining database solutions and objects, including packages, procedures, functions, triggers, views, and data structures using PL/SQL and SQL.
  • Support Microsoft SQL Server database solutions using T-SQL, including stored procedures, functions, views, and performance-optimized queries. Prior SQL Server experience is beneficial; candidates must be willing to develop proficiency as needed.
  • Develop, enhance, and support ETL and data integration solutions using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and related technologies. Prior SSIS experience is preferred but not required.
  • Design and implement database and data warehouse solutions, including relational and dimensional data models, to support operational, analytical, and reporting needs.
  • Perform data analysis, validation, and reconciliation to ensure data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and integrity across systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex Oracle and other database, ETL, integration, query, and performance issues across production and non-production environments.
  • Participate throughout the full Software Development Life Cycle—including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, documentation, maintenance, and production support—using Agile and Waterfall delivery approaches.
  • Contribute to AI-enabled data solutions and integration initiatives using iPaaS and other modern technologies for data orchestration, system connectivity, and automation, with a willingness to learn and apply emerging technologies.
  • Ensure database solutions comply with organizational standards for security, privacy, regulatory compliance, performance, availability, and scalability, while following established IT policies, development standards, change-management procedures, and service-level agreements.
  • Conduct code reviews and provide technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and mentoring to junior and mid-level developers.
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating business requirements into practical, reliable, and supportable technical solutions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in database development and data integration.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Expert-level Oracle database development experience, including PL/SQL, SQL, DML/DDL scripting, performance tuning, and optimization.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, SSIS, and related development tools is preferred. Candidates should be willing and able to learn these technologies as needed.
  • Experience with ETL, data integration, data pipelines, and database or data warehouse design.
  • Knowledge of relational and dimensional data modeling, including star and snowflake schemas.
  • Understanding of SDLC best practices, including coding standards, documentation, version control, testing, and deployment.
  • Experience working on project teams using Agile or Waterfall methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and business teams.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain quality in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to provide technical guidance and mentoring to other team members.
  • Experience with AI-enabled data solutions, iPaaS platforms, SSRS, Power BI, PowerShell, Linux/Unix scripting, or job-scheduling tools is a plus.
  • Occasional schedule flexibility may be required to support business-critical activities outside normal working hours.
