What are Junior Model Makers?

Junior Model Makers are entry-level professionals who assist in creating physical or digital models used for design, architecture, film, engineering, and product development. They typically work under the supervision of more experienced model makers, helping to construct prototypes, scale models, or mock-ups using various materials and tools. Their responsibilities often include interpreting technical drawings, using hand and power tools, and sometimes employing computer-aided design (CAD) software. Junior Model Makers learn essential skills on the job and gradually take on more complex tasks as they gain experience.

Job description

The Role

We are seeking a Senior Event Producer to anchor our event production team and lead the planning and execution of Purslane's most complex, highest-touch events — from cultural institution galas and corporate flagships to multi-day weddings at our partner venues. This is a senior, client-facing leadership role responsible for owning events end-to-end from post-sale through execution, setting the standard for production quality across the team, and mentoring junior producers.

The Senior Event Producer reports to the Director of Events and partners closely with Sales, Culinary, Operations, and Service leadership. This role is a key contributor to how Purslane scales its full-service business while protecting the craft, hospitality, and sustainability standards that define the brand.

Key Responsibilities

Event Leadership & Client Management
  • Own a portfolio of Purslane's most strategically important events — galas, institutional partnerships, corporate flagships, and signature weddings.
  • Serve as the senior client lead following sales handoff, guiding clients through planning with confidence, polish, and decisiveness.
  • Lead client calls, venue walkthroughs, design reviews, and planning meetings; act as the trusted advisor on event design, flow, and feasibility.
  • Anticipate client needs and proactively elevate the experience — not just deliver against the brief.
Event Production
  • Build and maintain best-in-class Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), production timelines, and run-of-show documents.
  • Direct rentals, layouts, staffing models, and overall event logistics across multiple concurrent events.
  • Lead on-site execution; serve as the senior decision-maker in the room on event day.
  • Manage and grow relationships with key vendors, partner venues, and cultural institutions.
Cross-Functional Operations
  • Partner with Sales to ensure clean handoffs, accurate scoping, and continuity into production.
  • Work closely with Culinary, Operations, and Service leadership to align on menus, equipment, staffing, and logistics.
  • Lead internal production meetings for your portfolio; drive accountability against timelines and deliverables.
  • Oversee permits, COIs, and administrative documentation required for complex venue and public events.
Ideal Candidate
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in catering, venue management, or event production, with a meaningful share of that time producing high-budget or institutional events in NYC.
  • Proven track record producing galas, weddings $150K+, or large-format corporate events from end to end.
  • Deep fluency in NYC event logistics — venues, permitting, rentals, union and non-union staffing, transportation.
  • Strong people leader who has mentored or managed junior producers and raised team standards.
  • Exceptional client presence; calm, polished, and decisive with high-net-worth clients, nonprofit boards, and corporate stakeholders.
  • Expert with BEO systems (Tripleseat or equivalent), production timelines, and rental coordination.
  • Genuine passion for hospitality, design, and sustainability — and a high bar for what "great" looks like on event day.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: $95,000 – $105,000, commensurate with experience
  • Benefits:
  • Paid Time Off: 14 days of PTO pursuant to The Oberon Group’s standard PTO policy (manager approval required).
  • Health Insurance: 50% coverage up through OS Benefits Advantage Tier, available on the first of the month after 30 days of employment.
  • Dental Insurance: 50% coverage up through OS Benefits Advantage Tier, available on the first of the month after 30 days of employment.
  • Vision Insurance: 50% coverage up through OS Benefits Advantage Tier, available on the first of the month after 30 days of employment.
  • Sick Leave: 40 hours per year, accrued pursuant to policy and applicable law.
  • Dining Benefit: 20% employee discount at all Oberon Group restaurants.
  • Work Arrangement: On-site and venue-based presence as required by the operations calendar, including evenings and weekends for select events and load-ins.
  • Perks: Direct exposure to NYC's leading cultural spaces, design partners, and chefs; clear path to Director-level leadership as the events business grows
Required Skills
  • Senior-level ownership of complex, multi-stakeholder events
  • People leadership and mentorship of junior production staff
  • Exceptional organization and ability to run multiple concurrent events at a high standard
  • Polished client-facing communication and negotiation
  • Vendor and venue relationship management
  • Effective problem solving under pressure
  • Collaboration across diverse, cross-functional teams
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced, high-craft environment
