Job Description:ย 

The candidate will serve as a Junior Appian Developer, contributing to secure application features, testing, documentation, and defect resolution under the guidance of experienced developers supporting a DoW customer.

Key Responsibilities: Key responsibilities of the candidate will be (but aren't limited to):

  • Implement well-scoped Appian objects, write tests, document work, address review feedback, and build proficiency across Appian data, process, interface, integration, security, testing, and application-release practices.

  • Configure and develop Appian interfaces, expression rules, record views, process-model components, and related application objects

  • Implement work from approved designs and acceptance criteria while following team naming, security, and documentation standards

  • Create and execute unit tests, test data, and regression checks for assigned Appian components

  • Support UI, accessibility, integration, and end-to-end testing, and resolve defects with guidance from senior team members

  • Assist with REST integration configurations, relational data access, record relationships, and data-validation rulesย 

  • Participate in peer reviews, incorporate feedback, and raise technical risks or unclear requirements early

  • Document Appian objects, configuration decisions, test evidence, defects, and deployment notes

  • Support record-type configuration, relationships, data-sync validation, package preparation, and post-deployment smoke testing

  • Participate in Agile planning, daily coordination, reviews, retrospectives, and technical learning sessions

  • Protect customer information and comply with DoW security, access-control, and software-development procedures

Qualifications/Requirements:

The Candidate must be able to think strategically, act tactically, and demonstrate strong analytical and critical-thinking skills. They must also build strong cross-group working relationships and demonstrate exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. The Candidate must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. We are looking for self-managing candidates who enjoy working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and working with dynamic teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizen (Authorization to Work in the U.S. will not suffice); previous professional experience supporting the U.S. Federal Government, either as a federal employee or contractor, is required

  • 0-3 years of relevant professional, internship, military, or academic experience in application development or process automation

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, OR 2 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree

  • Appian Certified Associate Developer certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of start

  • Foundational knowledge of Appian interfaces, expression rules, record types, process models, and application objects

  • Foundational experience with SQL, relational data, REST APIs, and software-development lifecycle practices

  • Ability to write clear technical notes, follow coding standards, and respond constructively to peer-review feedback

  • Demonstrated analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaborative problem-solving skills

  • Active CompTIA Security+ or equivalent DoW-approved baseline cybersecurity certification, or ability to obtain within the first 30 days of starting

  • Active Tier 2 background investigation or higher, completed or favorably adjudicated within the previous 18 months

Highly Desired Qualifications:

  • Hands-on Appian Academy coursework, Appian project work, or a demonstrable low-code application portfolio โ€ขHands-on Python development experience is strongly desired; experience with Java, JavaScript, Git, or automated test tools is also valued
  • Exposure to accessibility, user-centered design, Agile delivery, or CI/CD concepts
  • Active Secret security clearance preferred
  • Previous professional experience supporting a DoW organization, mission, or customer is strongly preferred
  • Strong interest in progressing through the Appian developer certification pathway
