Job description

Job Summary
The VDC Plumbing Designer/Coordinator supports the Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) team by developing, coordinating, and maintaining accurate 3D models and construction documents for plumbing and piping systems. This role partners closely with project managers, engineers, and field leaders to ensure models are fully coordinated, constructible, and compliant with TDIndustries' quality and safety standards.
**Position is eligible to be hybrid (few days in office / few days remote)
Essential Duties
  • Create detailed and accurate 3D plumbing models using Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD Fabrication, and Navisworks.
  • Review construction documents, specifications, and submittals to ensure alignment with project scope and design intent.
  • Participate in and/or lead clash detection and coordination meetings with other trades.
  • Generate fabrication drawings, spool sheets, and installation layouts for plumbing systems.
  • Collaborate with project management, field foremen, and fabrication teams to ensure constructibility and installation efficiency.
  • Maintain model accuracy throughout all project phases, including design, coordination, and as-built documentation.
  • Support the project schedule by meeting modeling and drawing deliverable deadlines.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior designers or interns.
  • Uphold TDIndustries' standards of quality, safety, and productivity in all design and coordination efforts.

Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree, trade school, or technical certification preferred.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in VDC/BIM design or coordination within mechanical construction.

Skills & Competencies:
  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD Fabrication, and Navisworks Manage.
  • In-depth understanding of plumbing systems, codes, and installation methods.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
