We are partnering with a leading national retail corporation to find a skilled Machine Learning Engineer to support and maintain production ML pipelines. In this role, you will help power the data science applications that generate inventory and workload insights across a large-scale retail store network. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who thrives in a cloud-native environment and enjoys balancing operational reliability with targeted development contributions.

Job Description
The Machine Learning Engineer will support and maintain production ML pipelines that generate inventory and workload insights for our client''s stores data science applications. These workflows run on GCP/Vertex AI using Kubeflow Pipelines (KFP), leveraging Python and PySpark. Key responsibilities include:
  • Monitoring, troubleshooting, and improving daily pipeline operations to ensure reliability and SLA compliance
  • Enhancing the stability, performance, and observability of existing pipelines
  • Implementing monitoring and alerting solutions using GCP-native tooling and custom instrumentation
  • Proactively identifying improvement opportunities within a cloud-native GCP environment
  • Balancing operational support with targeted development contributions
The ideal candidate is comfortable in a cloud-native GCP environment, proactive in identifying improvement opportunities, and effective at balancing operational support with targeted development contributions.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Proficiency with Python, with working knowledge of PySpark
  • Hands-on experience with GCP services, including:
    • Vertex AI
    • BigQuery
    • Kubeflow Pipelines (KFP)
    • Cloud Monitoring
  • Familiarity with ML workflow orchestration tools (KFP, Airflow, or equivalents)
  • Strong background in job monitoring and troubleshooting within cloud-native, distributed environments
  • Knowledge of observability practices using GCP Cloud Monitoring, OpenTelemetry (OTEL), and custom metrics instrumentation
  • Hands-on experience with GitHub workflows, including pull requests, branching strategies, and code reviews
