Job Title: Senior Software Design Engineer (Java / MBSE)
Location: San Diego, CA (100% Onsite)
Job Type: Contract (12 Months with Potential Extension/Conversion)

We are seeking a **Senior Software Design Engineer** to join an innovative engineering team supporting the design and development of next-generation software systems. This role is ideal for an experienced software engineer with strong Java development expertise, software architecture experience, and a passion for Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).

Key Responsibilities

* Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level Java and web-based applications.
* Lead software architecture, technical design, and code reviews across the software development lifecycle.
* Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to define system requirements and deliver scalable software solutions.
* Apply Test-Driven Development (TDD) methodologies to ensure software quality and maintainability.
* Utilize Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies, including UML and SysML, to support system design and documentation.
* Work with engineering teams to integrate AI-driven approaches into the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
* Provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and support project planning, risk management, and technical decision-making.
* Communicate project status, schedules, risks, and technical solutions with internal stakeholders and customers.

Required Qualifications

* 5+ years of hands-on experience in Java and web-based application development.
* Experience serving in a software architecture or technical leadership role.
