Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician II will perform advanced maintenance tasks and oversee the upkeep of all Salvation Army properties in Orange County. This mid-level position requires a higher level of expertise and responsibility, ensuring that all facilities are maintained to the highest standards.
Essential Functions
Specific Duties:
  • Perform advanced maintenance tasks, including HVAC repairs, electrical work, plumbing in addition to painting, and general building upkeep, including custodial duties and event setup and teardown as needed
  • Lead and manage small to medium-sized maintenance projects.
  • Provide guidance and support to Maintenance Technician I and other junior staff.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of facilities to identify and address maintenance needs.
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines while performing maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and standards.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, work orders, and inspections.
  • Assist in managing maintenance supplies and equipment inventory.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and services.
  • Must be able to climb ladders, walk roofs and perform jobs from scaffolding, when necessary.
  • Provide regular status reports to Facilities and Maintenance Supervisor regarding issues resolved, those needing attention, and those currently in progress; report all incidents of property damage immediately
  • Perform other duties as required by the Facilities and Maintenance Supervisor.

Working Conditions
Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, fax and telephone. Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.

Time Management: Efficiently prioritize and complete work orders within specified timelines while managing multiple responsibilities.

Attention to Detail: Precision in performing maintenance tasks, ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Proficiency in advanced maintenance tasks, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general repairs.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in maintenance or a related field.Relevant certifications such as HVAC certification, Electrical certification, or equivalent are preferred.
  • Ability to lead and mentor junior maintenance staff.
  • Valid California driver's license, auto insurance and personal transportation required
  • Minimum GED or HS diploma

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
  • A criminal background check is required with certification for Protect the Mission policies and procedures.
  • Must have ability to work with, direct, and relate well with co-workers, community members, and guests/clients.
  • Able to function in a fast-paced, frequently changing environment.
  • Must possess good relationship skills.
  • Attention to detail, quality and professionalism
