Job description

🚀 Keep the Engine Running - and Love Where You Work
📍 Role: Software Engineer - Node.js / TypeScript
📍 Location: San Diego, CA 92101 (Onsite 100% downtown at Symphony Towers)
💰 Compensation Range: $120,000-$145,000 DOE
At Luminize, we help brands win. As one of the top 5 Amazon sellers in the US, our physical operations are as critical as our digital ones. We're looking for a Software Engineer II to help maintain and evolve our Warehouse Management System (WMS). You'll play a hands-on role supporting the platform that powers our warehouse workflows, shipping, and inventory tracking - and contribute directly to modernizing it for the future.
🎯 What You'll Be Doing
  • Platform Support: Work alongside senior engineers and the Platform Architect to maintain and improve our current WMS, keeping operations running smoothly day to day.
  • Migration Contribution: Play an active role in migrating legacy functionality (Google Apps Script/Sheets) into a modern backend architecture using Node.js, React, and PostgreSQL.
  • Full-Stack Development: Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and integrations that support real-time inventory and order fulfillment.
  • System Reliability: Assist with logging, monitoring, and observability improvements to help the platform perform reliably during high-volume peaks.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with nearshore developers to deliver features, troubleshoot production issues, and contribute to a culture of quality and accountability.
  • Documentation: Document code, APIs, and technical workflows to support knowledge sharing and reduce operational risk across the team.

What You Bring
  • Experience: 3+ years building full-stack systems in production environments (GCP familiarity a plus).
  • The Tech Stack: Solid hands-on experience with Node.js / TypeScript and PostgreSQL (schema design, migrations, and query optimization).
  • Modern Frontend: Ability to build and maintain responsive web UIs with React across various devices.
  • Migration Exposure: Some experience contributing to legacy system refactoring, modernization, or migration efforts in a production codebase.
  • Domain Awareness: Familiarity with WMS, ERP applications, or fulfillment logistics is a plus - curiosity about operational systems is a must.
  • Data Familiarity: Exposure to cloud environments and modern data tools like BigQuery or Snowflake is a bonus.
  • Problem Solver: A collaborative, detail-oriented mindset - comfortable working through loosely defined requirements and asking the right questions to get unblocked.

🏙 You'll be based in Symphony Towers, one of San Diego's premier office spaces that offers:
  • Stunning views of the city and coastline
  • Free access to the building gym
  • Discounts at restaurants and cafes in the tower
  • Secure bike racks and 24/7 paid parking in a nearby downtown structure
  • Close walking distance to 100+ of the top bars, restaurants, and coffee shops

Our office is designed for comfort, productivity, and collaboration, featuring:
  • Ergonomic standing desks and high-quality workstations
  • A fully stocked snack bar, espresso machine, and cold drinks
  • A welcoming team lounge area and sunny workspaces
  • A clean, modern space where we can do our best work together

🎁 Benefits & Perks Our people are our #1 priority. Our benefits include:
  • Multiple medical plan options through Anthem Blue Cross
  • Dental & vision insurance (including orthodontia and annual exams)
  • Pet benefit program with savings on vet care, products, and services
  • Paid vacation (accruing up to 120+ hours/year with rollover and cap)
  • Paid holidays annually
  • Coverage for spouses/domestic partners and dependents under 26

💵 Compensation Transparency We've listed a broad salary range of $120,000-$145,000/year to account for varying levels of experience, technical skill sets, and potential. Where you land in the range will depend on how your background aligns with this role. We're committed to compensating based on value and impact, and we're happy to have open conversations throughout the process.
📈 Growth & Career Opportunities at Luminize At Luminize, growth isn't just something we drive for our clients; it's our mindset and a big priority for our people.
We offer clear career paths and leveling guidelines so you always know where you stand and what it takes to move from P1 to the next level. You'll have visibility into advancement opportunities from day one, with a strong track record of promoting our engineers from within.
You'll also benefit from:
  • Mentorship from the Associate Director of Software Development
  • Cross-functional exposure to brand management, supply chain, and operations
  • Learning resources, including Udemy access and specific department training
  • A culture that encourages asking questions, trying new things, and leveling up together
