How much do junior financial analyst jobs pay per hour?
What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a junior financial analyst, and why are they important?
What does a junior financial analyst do?
A junior financial analyst generally works in finance for various companies and sometimes for the government. As a junior financial analyst, you report to a senior analyst to help document and structure various financial management solutions and make recommendations. You also work to develop or oversee a database used for data analysis. In this role, you learn from your senior counterparts in many ways. You may report on investment modeling, monitor accounting, or complete other duties as you follow your senior advisor. You may also help with mergers and acquisitions depending on the responsibilities of your senior advisor.
What is the difference between Junior Financial Analyst vs Financial Analyst?
| Aspect | Junior Financial Analyst | Financial Analyst |
|---|---|---|
| Required Credentials | Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field; some certifications like CFA Level I | Bachelor's degree; often more experience; CFA Level I or II preferred |
| Work Environment | Entry-level, supportive team, training-focused | More independent, analytical, decision-making responsibilities |
| Employer & Industry Usage | Financial services, corporate finance, investment firms | Same industries, with increased expectations and scope |
The main difference between a Junior Financial Analyst and a Financial Analyst lies in experience and responsibility. Junior Financial Analysts are typically entry-level, focusing on data collection and basic analysis, while Financial Analysts handle more complex financial modeling and decision-making tasks. Both roles are common in finance-related industries and often require similar educational backgrounds and certifications, but the level of independence and scope of work increases with experience.

Launched by former Big 4 Management Consultants; our multidisciplinary teams bring together the talents of nearly 190 professionals nationally to complete a wide variety of engagements for Private Companies, Fortune 1,000 Enterprises, and Government Agencies of all sizes. Our Services are deployed across the enterprise, target drivers of economic profit (growth, margin and efficiency), and are aligned at the intersections of assets, processes, policies and people delivering value.Â
ProSidian clients represent a broad spectrum of industries to include but are not limited to Energy, Manufacturing, Chemical, Retail, Healthcare, Telecommunications, Hospitality, Pharmaceuticals, Banking & Financial Services, Transportation, Federal and State Government Agencies. Learn More About ProSidian Consulting at www.ProSidian.com.
ProSidian Supports Private Companies, Fortune 1,000 Enterprises, and Government Agencies of all sizes with Financial and Business Professional Services to assist with the implementation of strategic and management objectives. The ProSidian Federal Govt. Client's Mortgage Backed Securities (MBS) programs help to channel funds from the nation's capital markets into the housing market. The U.S. Government's full faith and credit guarantee makes MBS widely acceptable to capital markets investors which choose to invest in primary mortgages because of the guarantee. Issuers that receive funds through the sale of MBS securities can use the capital to make additional residential and other types of mortgage loans. Through this process, the MBS program increases the overall supply of credit available for housing and helps to ensure that credit is available at reasonable interest rates.
The scope of this role is to provide a streamlined process to support a number of our client's specialized initiatives in the mortgage industry. The task orders to be issued will be based on scopes of work defining specific requirements in the following areas:
Corporate Risk Activities
Mortgage Banking Industry Monitoring and Surveillance
Mortgage Industry Transaction and Asset Management Services
Mortgage-Backed Securities Program and Policy Management
In addition, ProSidian Consulting is intending to secure the services of strategic partner(s) who possess the specific housing finance expertise and capability to help define key initiatives in an effort to significantly transform the way our client does business and to successfully leverage resources and improve our client's ability to be effective at the community level.
Provides Management accurate information on present financial situation, as well as projections of future cash flows, economic and industry trends, and customer demand. Financial analysts provide this information by gathering and analyzing data. They also develop and implement analysis projects, whether the objective is to manage banking relationships, invest or borrow funds, or launch a new product or service. Other financial analyst duties include compiling data for annual reports, budgets and cash flow reports, assessing operational performance and setting investment priorities.Â
They also develop detailed analyses to support investment decisions, with forecasts of return on current and proposed options. In addition, they make recommendations to improve financial operations.
