Position Summary

The Senior Financial Analyst will lead complex financial analyses involving distressed debt portfolios, commercial and residential loan assets, private equity investment structures, creditworthiness assessments, and portfolio management activities. The individual will evaluate financial, operational, and credit risks while supporting due diligence, asset acquisition, disposition, and portfolio monitoring efforts.

The primary focus of this position is financial analysis. Project management is a secondary responsibility: the ideal candidate will use project coordination skills to manage due diligence workstreams, stakeholder communications, and deliverable tracking across client engagements.

Key Responsibilities 1. Financial Analysis & Due Diligence

●      Lead the evaluation, acquisition, management, and disposition of distressed debt and non-performing assets; analyze workout strategies, restructuring alternatives, and liquidation scenarios.

●      Evaluate bidder capitalization, liquidity, operational infrastructure, historical credit performance, and workout capabilities, borrower financial statements, tax returns, cash flow analyses, and credit reports to assess borrower and guarantor suitability and creditworthiness.

●      Assess portfolio performance, collateral adequacy, and recovery potential; perform financial modeling, scenario analysis, and stress testing.

●      Conduct financial and operational due diligence on investment opportunities, including private equity ownership structures, capitalization tables, and funding arrangements.

●      Review investment memoranda, borrower documentation, and transaction materials; coordinate virtual data room reviews and document management activities.

●      Analyze market trends affecting credit quality and asset valuations; recommend strategies to maximize portfolio recovery and returns.

●      Prepare detailed financial reports, executive dashboards, and investment recommendations for executive leadership and clients.

●      Coordinate due diligence workstreams and transaction timelines.

●      Track project milestones, deliverables, and stakeholder action items.

●      Facilitate meetings with clients, lenders, investors, and legal teams.

●      Maintain status reports and executive communications.

●      Support cross-functional initiatives involving finance, operations, compliance, and technology.

●      Note: The client for this engagement is a federal agency; work must comply with applicable federal contracting, reporting, and data-handling requirements, and deliverables should follow the agency's required formats and review cadence.

Required Qualifications

●      Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related field.

●      5–10 years of experience in credit analysis, commercial banking, special assets/workout groups, distressed debt investing, private equity, asset management, or financial advisory services.

●      Strong understanding of commercial and residential lending, credit underwriting, financial statement analysis, loan servicing, distressed debt and non-performing assets, portfolio management, and private equity structures and transactions.

●      Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.

●      Exceptional analytical, writing, and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

●      CFA, CPA, MBA, or similar professional designation.

●      Experience supporting FDIC, financial institutions, receiverships, loan sales, or asset disposition programs.

●      Experience reviewing large loan portfolios and distressed assets.

●      PMP certification or formal project management experience.

●      Experience with SharePoint, virtual data rooms, and transaction management platforms.
