Job description

Job Overview:
Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and optimize embedded software solutions for advanced appliances and brewer platforms. This role requires deep technical expertise and focuses on end-to-end ownership of subsystems and features, ensuring successful integration into products and reliable performance across development, manufacturing, and field environments - all while mentoring junior engineers. You will collaborate closely with hardware, SQA, manufacturing, and product teams to ensure robust product delivery aligned with platform standards.
Key Responsibilities
Embedded Software Development
  • Own end-to-end complex software module design, development, and delivery independently, ensuring reliability, performance, and maintainability across the entire development lifecycle from requirements through validation and release
  • Architect subsystems with guidance from principal engineers
  • Implement RTOS-based designs or embedded Linux components
  • Integrate platform components into product applications, ensuring correct system behavior across modules
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle at the system level while maintaining awareness of overall business goals: requirements gathering, design, implementation, test, deployment, platform/system integration, and maintenance.

Software Quality, Reliability, and Continuous improvement
  • Perform software verification, validation, troubleshooting, defect resolution, and documentation activities to ensure high-quality, reliable software solutions and to suggest enhancements to improve product quality.
  • Lead code reviews, provide critical feedback, and mentor junior developers to elevate team code quality.
  • Leverage Python, AI, and other tools for automation, increasing development efficiency, and improving code quality, while continuously learning new technologies, tools, and development methodologies.

Engineering Process & Collaboration
  • Collaborate with hardware teams on schematic reviews and peripheral integration
  • Collaborate with cross-functional global teams to deliver robust integrated solutions that meet product requirements, to perform root cause analysis and corrective action implementation, and to resolve field issues thereby contributing to continuous quality improvement
  • Contribute to technical documentation and ensure compliance with internal standards and best practices.
  • Demonstrate leadership by guiding teams toward well-defined technical deliveries and supporting program or platform milestones

Total Rewards:
  • Salary Range: $76,400 - $133,800
  • Actual placement within the compensation range may vary depending on experience, skills, and other factors
  • Benefits, subject to election and eligibility: Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability, Paid Time Off (including paid parental leave, vacation, and sick time), 401k with company match, Tuition Reimbursement, and Mileage Reimbursement
  • Annual bonus based on performance and eligibility

Requirements:
  • 6+ years of relevant industry experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 4+ years with a Master's, or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in C/C++ for embedded software, Python for custom tools, development on FreeRTOS / embedded Linux, low level peripheral driver integration (I2C, SPI, UART, GPIO, ADC, PWM, LCD, LED), and/or embedded IoT (BLE, WiFi, MQTT, TLS, DHCP, TCP, UDP, GATT, X.509)
  • Experience with MCU platforms (e.g. STM32, NXP, ESP32, etc.)
  • Ability to use lab tools (e.g. oscilloscope, logic analyzer) for debugging across software and hardware boundaries
  • Effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and lead technical reviews.

Preferred Skills
  • Familiarity with compliance standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., UL, FCC) is a plus
  • Experience supporting manufacturing or validation processes
  • Experience with low-power design and optimization
  • Experience with consumer electronics or appliance software development
  • Experience with Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum) and tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket
