Job description

General Purpose: The Junior Electronic Engineer supports the design, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of electronic systems used in industrial bolting and torque equipment. This role contributes to product development, validation, and field support activities under the guidance of senior engineering staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the design, testing, and validation of electronic systems and components.
  • Execute test procedures and document results to support product development and quality improvements.
  • Perform troubleshooting and failure analysis on field-returned units to identify root causes.
  • Assist with schematic capture, simulation, and PCB layout using ECAD tools.
  • Build and test prototypes, including soldering and assembly of electronic components.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering and other departments; communicate findings through clear technical documentation.
  • Work with senior engineers to support projects from concept through field implementation.

Technical Skills:

  • Demonstrates basic proficiency with electronic test equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope, etc.).
  • Fundamental understanding of analog and digital electronic circuits.
  • Basic troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to solder surface-mount components.
  • Good mechanical aptitude, including cabling, wiring, and basic assembly work.

Familiarity with the following subjects is a plus:

  • Brushless Motor Drives.
  • Embedded Microprocessors (should have a Fundamental Understanding of Microcontroller Programming).
  • AC and DC Powered Systems.
  • Printed Circuit Board design (KiCad, Altium, Cadence).

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Education/Experience; Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (recent graduates encouraged to apply). No prior professional experience required.

Computer Skills Desired

  • Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • ECAD/PCB design tools (Altium, KiCad, Cadence, or similar)
  • Programming languages: Embedded C and assembly

Physical Demands/Requirements

  • Ability to build and test electro-mechanical prototype designs, including soldering and assembly.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in a combination of office, lab, and production environments
  • Exposure to electrical test equipment, industrial systems, temperature variations, and varying noise levels may occur.
