to join CLEAResult as a Junior Energy Engineer. In this role, you will support the development and delivery of energy efficiency programs by providing engineering calculations, building energy simulations, measurement and verification (M&V), and utility program technical design and assistance, supporting utilities in the Midwest and Colorado. You will lead the design and development of technical strategies, conduct analysis to inform and recommend energy savings, and develop plans and reporting that contribute to the success of client programs.

  • Calculate energy savings for projects in our programs using standard engineering principles including physics, mechanics, fan laws, thermodynamics, algebra, and statistics
  • Perform energy assessments and audits
  • Effectively apply engineering principles to our program work
  • Develop IPMVP-compliant M&V plans and reports, with technical oversight
  • Develop measure builds for program planning and business development efforts, with technical oversight
  • Develop tools and calculators for use in our programs, with technical oversight
  • Provide design recommendations for prescriptive projects in our programs, and develop effective technical training materials related to prescriptive measures
  • Analyze logger and utility data
  • Review filings, utility commission documents, and evaluator documents for technical accuracy and sound engineering practices; communicate findings and recommendations to more senior engineers and program staff
  • Write and inform technical documents and publications, and conduct quality review of content
  • Provide general project oversight and quality control/assurance, and continuously inform customers and the project team of updates and necessary adjustments
  • Support business development efforts and proactively seek new project opportunities
  • Communicate technical ideas clearly and effectively to non-technical audiences - strong communication skills are essential for this role

You will have...
  • BS degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Energy Engineering (or related engineering discipline) required
  • A strong foundation in thermodynamics and heat transfer
  • Practical experience through an internship, co-op, or an Industrial Assessment Center (IAC) program is a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences
  • Willingness to travel within roughly a 50-mile radius of Chicago, IL, with occasional travel to project sites in Indiana and Colorado (mileage reimbursed; company-arranged rental car and lodging provided for longer trips)
  • Ability to work well within a team-based support structure

Compensation
Target Compensation: $80,000 / year
