Job description

SUMMARY:
Strong team player with the ability to adapt to various tasks. Primary responsibilities include design creation with consideration of customer needs, manufacturing processes, welding requirements, and engineering principles. Strong communication skills and interaction with customers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop electrical, mechanical and/or non-metallic design content with data based justifications
• Consistently develops designs through a detailed understanding of WIEC manufacturing capabilities and best practices into design decisions
• Develop and maintains technical relationships with suppliers
• Advanced understanding of GD&T requirements and manufacturing process capabilities for execution of designs
• Detailed understanding and a technical authority for 5-7 key cab main component design areas
• Coordinate the purchasing, fabrication, and build of cab prototypes and pre-production units.
• Provide concise and effective technical guidance and communication to customers; builds effective technical communication paths with customers.
• Ensure designs meet all relevant industry standards and codes
• Document all design decisions with appropriate justification in design files.
• Lead design reviews and support justification for design decisions.
• Contribute to design
• Lead root cause analyses processes for effective problem definition and development of corrective actions.
• Translate end-user functional requirements into product specifications
• Proactively identify and mitigate design risks prior to prototype and pre-production builds.
• Develop design recommendations and provide fact based justifications to internal and external customers
• Accurate designs meeting our customers needs (both internal and external)
• Accurate and complete design files / records
• Accurate build drawings
• Meet all due dates
KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
  • Accurate designs using best modeling practices
  • Customer interaction (internal and external)
  • Cross department support (cost estimate, purchasing, etc) - including production
  • Development of accurate drawing packages
  • Participate in internal and external design reviews
  • Mentor and develop junior staff
  • Improves Engineering specifications & drafting standards including GD&T
  • Strong knowledge of Engineering Principals

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering is required
  • Open to relevant work experience, with demonstrated proficiency and working knowledge in respective area - Including:
    • Advanced design ability of new design work for release of several major projects cleanly into production.
    • Evidence of clean design files and budget control
    • Evidence of proficiency in performing engineering calculations
  • Proficient with Pro-Engineer, Solid Works, or similar 3D modeling software
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing practices
  • knowledge of Microsoft Office software
