CVR Engineering is looking to hire a Transmission Line Engineer to join our growing team!

Essential Job Functions:
  • Design overhead transmission line projects for electric utility clients, including new construction, rebuilds, relocations, and system improvements.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, construction packages, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Develop transmission line designs utilizing industry standards, client specifications, and applicable codes.
  • Perform structural loading, sag and tension, foundation, and line routing evaluations.
  • Coordinate engineering activities with project managers, substation engineers, civil engineers, environmental specialists, surveyors, and permitting agencies.
  • Review engineering drawings, calculations, and deliverables for accuracy and quality.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
  • Participate in project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource coordination.
  • Support proposal development, project estimating, and client presentations as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with utility customers, contractors, and regulatory agencies throughout project execution.
  • Support construction activities by responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and providing engineering support during construction.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, client requirements, OSHA regulations, the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), and applicable engineering practices.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of transmission line design experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; Engineer in Training (EIT) with the ability to obtain PE licensure will be considered.
  • Experience designing transmission lines ranging from 69kV through 500kV preferred.
  • Proficiency with PLS-CADD required; experience with PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER, SAP2000, MFAD, LPILE, or similar engineering software preferred.
  • Working knowledge of NESC, ASCE, IEEE, and applicable utility design standards.
  • Experience preparing engineering calculations, construction drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to project sites and client meetings as needed.
