Pay: $25.00 - $30.00


Position Overview

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Engineering Co-Op provides a hands-on learning opportunity for current college students or recent graduates pursuing an Engineering or Technical degree. This role offers practical experience in maintenance operations, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement within a fast-paced aseptic food manufacturing environment. Working alongside experienced maintenance professionals, the Co-Op will support equipment maintenance, reliability initiatives, and improvement projects that enhance safety, quality, productivity, and operational performance while developing valuable technical and professional skills.


Key Responsibilities

  • Hands-On Maintenance
  • Assist maintenance technicians with troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production equipment and facility systems.
  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance activities on manufacturing equipment.
  • Perform equipment inspections, calibrations, and routine maintenance under supervision.
  • Participate in safety programs including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space Entry, and OSHA compliance activities.
  • Assist with equipment installation, startup, and commissioning projects.
  • Utilize the CMMS to enter, update, and close maintenance work orders.
  • Engineering & Improvement Projects
  • Lead assigned Co-Op projects from planning through completion, presenting recommendations and results to plant leadership.
  • Support preventive maintenance optimization, spare parts management, and equipment reliability initiatives.
  • Analyze maintenance performance data, including downtime, work orders, and OEE metrics, to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in Kaizen events, 5S activities, root cause analysis, and other continuous improvement efforts.
  • Assist with developing and updating SOPs, work instructions, and maintenance documentation.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Manufacturing, Quality, and Technical Services teams on projects that improve safety, quality, efficiency, and cost.
Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of an accredited program in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
  • Completion of at least one year of relevant coursework preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, or industrial systems through coursework or hands-on experience.
  • Strong interest in manufacturing equipment and maintenance.
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn in a hands-on environment.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative and inclusive team.
