Job description

Position Description: CGI Federal has an exciting opportunity for a Database Engineer within our Intel sector advancing the national security mission through cutting edge technology. You must have a passion for keeping pace with rapidly evolving technology advancements and leveraging your knowledge on a highly collaborative team to deliver state-of-the-art capabilities. The Database Engineer designs, develops, and manages database systems, ensuring they are efficient, reliable, and secure. They work with various database technologies, including relational and NoSQL databases, and often collaborate with other teams to support application development and data-driven initiatives. CGI Federal is growing its high-performance team whose members share a passion for building high-quality, scalable, advanced IT solutions in a collaborative, fast-paced, outcome-driven mission. This position is located in USA VA Arlington; hybrid working model is acceptable. Your future duties and responsibilities: • Creating and modifying database schemas, writing SQL code, and implementing database structures based on project requirements. • Identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, optimizing queries, and implementing indexing strategies to improve database efficiency. • Implementing security measures, such as encryption and access controls, to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access. • Performing routine maintenance tasks, such as backups, upgrades, and patching, to ensure data integrity and availability. • Working with software engineers, system engineers, and other teams to integrate database systems with applications and other infrastructure components. • Diagnosing and resolving database-related issues, including performance problems, connectivity issues, and data integrity problems. Required qualifications to be successful in this role: • Bachelor's degree and/or 0 to 2 years of experience
• Active TS/SCI and the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with CI Poly.
• Strong knowledge of relational database management systems (RDBMS) like MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and NoSQL databases like MongoDB. • Proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL) for querying, manipulating, and managing data. • Experience with data modeling techniques, such as logical and physical data modeling, and the ability to translate business requirements into database designs. • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud and their database services. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve database-related issues. • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with other teams. CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $100,000.00 - $150000.00.
