Overview

The role of the Senior Database Developer will include, but is not limited to, leading the development of usable datasets to support improvement of patient outcomes, provide a foundation for quality measures, reporting, and research.

Responsibilities

The incumbent will possess mature programming skills and be able to think critically to solve problems in order to develop customized and sustainable data-driven solutions for problems impacting Montefiore.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's in Informatics, Health Information Management, Computer Science or a related field Required - Masters Preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience Required.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with SQL programming, including writing, optimizing, and troubleshooting complex queries (high proficiency) Required.
  • Experienced in Python for data engineering, analytics, and automation tasks Required.
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake and/or AWS S3 in cloud-based data environments (high proficiency) Required.
  • Ability to design and develop database objects, including tables, views, and stored procedures (high proficiency) Required.
  • Deep understanding of data sources, data standards, data governance best practices, and data quality management principles.
  • Experience deploying and supporting data solutions within cloud computing environments.
  • Experience leveraging Snowflake to design and optimize SQL queries, develop scalable data models, and build efficient data pipelines for reporting and analytics in a cloud data warehouse environment.
  • Experience working with both structured and unstructured data.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment, meet deadlines, and serve as technical expert (e.g., solve complex technical problems or mentor junior staff).
  • Strong ability to understand, categorize and translate business/user requirements to functional requirements.
  • Experience in clinical informatics and clinical terminologies (ICD9-10, LOINC, CPT, etc.) highly desirable.
  • Experience working with various types of health care data is preferred.
  • Experience working with Epic EMR systems and associated data repositories (e.g., Clarity, Caboodle, etc.).
