Database Administrator III (SQL Server / Oracle)

Location: Tallahassee, FL (Onsite)
Job Type: Full-Time Contract
Schedule: Monday–Friday between 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM. Participation in an on-call rotation and occasional Saturdays may be required.


About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator III to support a large-scale enterprise technology environment. This role is responsible for administering, designing, optimizing, and supporting mission-critical SQL Server, Oracle, and GIS database environments that power essential business applications.

The ideal candidate is a highly skilled database professional with strong troubleshooting abilities, experience supporting enterprise production environments, and a passion for building secure, scalable, and high-performing database solutions.


What You'll Do

  • Perform daily administration, maintenance, and operational support of enterprise SQL Server, Oracle, and GIS databases.
  • Design, implement, and maintain database structures that support enterprise applications.
  • Monitor database performance and proactively tune systems for maximum reliability and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex production database issues with minimal supervision.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve database administration standards, documentation, and procedures.
  • Conduct SQL code reviews and provide recommendations to improve database performance and maintainability.
  • Support application enhancements, upgrades, and modernization initiatives from a database perspective.
  • Assist in designing, developing, and optimizing database schemas and data models.
  • Analyze business processes and technical requirements to create efficient, scalable database solutions.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Business Analysts, Developers, Infrastructure teams, and Data Analysts to deliver long-term enterprise solutions.
  • Mentor junior technical staff and share database administration best practices.
  • Support GIS and spatial database environments as needed.
  • Assist with additional database and infrastructure initiatives as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of enterprise database administration experience.
  • Expert-level experience with:
    • Microsoft SQL Server 2012 or newer
    • Oracle Database 10g or newer
  • Strong experience designing, implementing, and supporting relational databases.
  • Experience monitoring, tuning, and optimizing production database environments.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues.
  • Strong understanding of relational database design principles and best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications

Experience with any of the following is highly preferred:

  • Azure SQL Database
  • AWS database services and SQL tools
  • ArcGIS Server administration
  • ESRI SDE Geodatabases
