Job description

Job Summary:
North Point Technology is a company focused on supporting crucial missions with innovative solutions. They are seeking a Senior SQL Database Administrator to provide database administration and management support for Microsoft SQL Server-based environments, ensuring quality of service, availability, security, and performance of databases.
Responsibilities:
• Provide database administration and management support for RDMS in a Microsoft SQL Server-based environment across supported networks
• Maintain quality of service and availability of RDMS by enforcing organizational standards through daily system checks; record 100% of findings and statuses to the IT Portal
• Ensure all SQL servers and instances have the latest DISA STIGs applied within 30 calendar days of release; notify Government of critical findings that cannot be remediated within 3 days
• Manipulate database objects and develop stored procedures, stored functions, and packages based on customer requirements
• Maintain healthy and reliable data replication using technologies such as availability groups
• Monitor performance and manage parameters to provide fast query responses; optimize code and stored procedures while assisting developers
• Implement security requirements for least privileged access and monitor user access and security
• Develop and maintain database documentation including SOPs, TTPs, logical architecture diagrams, entity relationship diagrams, and server lists
• Develop, manage, and test backup and recovery plans, including monthly integrity testing of no less than 10% of database backups
• Conduct capacity planning and assist with storage and architecture design
• Complete CRITICAL daily checks by 0700 daily and all other priority checks by 1000 daily
• Notify the Government of any unscheduled system outages within 30 minutes of occurrence
• Provide after-hours on-site support with 2-hour response time to system/application malfunctions
• Monitor and assume responsibility of trouble tickets to maintain 99% system availability rate
Qualifications:
Required:
• Eight years of experience in SQL database administration supporting and managing databases in a production environment
• Five years of experience installing, configuring, and supporting Microsoft SQL Server in High Availability Group configurations
• Five years of experience with T-SQL and ability to write scripts, stored procedures, triggers, and views to automate maintenance functions
• Three years of experience serving as a team leader working both as part of a team and independently to assign/review immediate tasks, set priorities, maintain task progress, and validate team members' work
• Three years of experience mentoring junior personnel on proper practices and procedures
• Three years of experience planning and implementing security measures to safeguard information against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification, or disclosure in accordance with industry best practices and DISA STIGs
• Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) or SQL Server 2016 or SQL Database Administration Certification
• DoD 8140.03 IAT Level II / Intermediate certification
• TS/SCI clearance with SBI and ability to attain SI, TK, G, HCS, and NATO Secret clearance
Preferred:
• Experience with the DCD IT Portal and Government-managed STIG management portals
• Experience supporting .NET applications in a production environment
