Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and build cloud-based back-end services that support a portfolio of data-centric clinical and analytic applications. The role focuses on micro-services that meet uptime and accuracy targets, are resilient, and scale with increasing data volumes and traffic. The engineer will collaborate with data engineering, platform, and solutions teams to deliver applications that benefit practice and patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Translate requirements into quality code in partnership with Product Owners, Product Managers, and Architects.
  • Design and develop services for data warehousing, big data, cloud computing, business intelligence, analytics, and machine learning.
  • Participate in DevOps practices and Agile continuous integration and delivery frameworks.
  • Program in high-level languages such as Go, Python, and Java.
  • Create and maintain documentation for processes and source code.
  • Communicate with peers, leaders, and customers across the organization.
  • Troubleshoot at an expert level and resolve issues through root cause analysis and system investigation.
  • Contribute to design and architecture discussions with Principals and Architects.
  • Lead targeted cross-functional improvement efforts and mentor junior engineers.
  • Solve complex problems and propose new perspectives on existing solutions.
  • Work independently with minimal guidance and lead projects or project steps as needed.
  • Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree with 7+ years of experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of software engineering and experience coding applications or services in a high-level language such as C, C++, Go, Java, or C#.
  • Experience with modern application development frameworks and Agile software development techniques.
  • Knowledge of professional engineering practices including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Strong problem solving, time management, and communication skills with deep hands-on technical expertise.

Preferred Skills:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open-source technologies and cloud services.
  • Experience building and operating software in GCP, AWS, or Azure.
  • Background in databases, analytics, big data systems, or business intelligence products.
  • Experience building high-performance, highly available, and scalable distributed systems.
  • Experience developing software for healthcare-related industries.
