Job description

JOB SUMMARY (Added April 2024)
The Senior Data Scientist leverages vast amounts of data to discover opportunities used to improve products/services, uncover hidden insights, and support smarter decision making with relevant analytics. The ideal candidate will have strong experience using a variety of data mining and analysis methods to build and implement models, create algorithms, and run simulations. An important piece of the Senior Data Scientist's role is to be proactive and find areas of the company that could benefit from modeling or improved measurement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions
  • Mine and analyze data from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development, marketing techniques and operational processes
  • Proactively generate ideas for using data science to identify new business opportunities and present results to key stakeholders
  • Partner closely with Reporting & Analytics team to find reporting areas that can be improved with better modeling
  • Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply across data sets (i.e. CMR effectiveness, TIP completion patterns, etc.)
  • Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, revenue generation, ad targeting and other business outcomes
  • Develop processes to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy
  • Mentor and assist junior Data Scientists with modeling and design

KNOWLEDGE & REQUIREMENTS
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development.
  • Experience using statistical computer languages (Python, R, SQL, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
  • Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks.
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams.
  • A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques.
  • Travel Requirements: Domestic and/or International, up to 10%

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum years of work experience: 5 years
  • Minimum level of education or education/experience: Bachelors Degree
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science or another quantitative field
  • 5+ years of experience manipulating data sets and building statistical models
