Key Responsibilities:

KBR seeks a Junior Data Scientist to support the CAPE Joint Data Support (JDS) Division. CAPE JDS is a multi-source funded and OSD CAPE managed organization responsible for identifying, collecting, developing, analyzing, managing, and disseminating historical, current, and future years U.S. and Non-U.S. forces inventory, capabilities, and deployment data (including planning, programming, and acquisition data) supporting collaborative study teams guided by the Analysis Working Group (AWG). JDS develops standardized data products and analytic tools to support Joint analytic efforts focused on Senior Leader decision support. Additionally, JDS supports AWG led SCI/SAP/SAR studies and analyses.

The Junior Data Scientist as part of a team will be responsible for the analysis and evaluation of user business problems and the development of system recommendations to meet requirements. Analyzes current and technical processes to formulate and develop new and modified methods, techniques or systems. Duties include coordinating with business and technology teams to ascertain system requirements, such as program functions, output requirements, input data acquisition, execution of user acceptance, and may coordinate testing and system controls. Addresses somewhat complex technical issues/problems using best practice and through collaboration with colleagues. Develops solutions to technical problems that require depth of technical knowledge, but are typically limited in complexity. Communicates with colleagues across multiple areas (project managers, other technical resources, etc.). Explains technical solutions, practices and procedures to others within the organization.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Must have an active Secret security clearance to be considered for the position

  • Bachelor's degree in data science, statistics, mathematics, or a related field.

  • Two (2) years of experience working with object-oriented programming languages and other coding environments (e.g., Python, Java, C++, C#, R, MATLAB, and Simulink)

  • Two (2) years of experience designing, executing, and delivering data analyses leveraging at least one (1) of the following areas:

  • Statistics: Expertise with statistical modeling, experimental design, sampling, clustering, data reduction, confidence intervals, testing, modeling, and predictive modeling.

  • Mathematics: Expertise with big data and performing inventory management, forecasting, optimization, and supply chain analysis

  • Visualization: Expertise providing visualization of data and analytic results in a meaningful way for senior decision makers to understand quickly with minimal to no explanation. These tasks will require expertise using programs such as Tableau, ArcGIS, and R to display data.

  • Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning: Expertise utilizing artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques for developing and running algorithms and dealing with computational complexity.

  • The candidate must also possess adeptness in interfacing with clients and demonstrated expertise in Structured Query Language (SQL).

Basic Compensation:

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

VA Compensation is $120,000K-$127,000K.

Additional Compensation:

KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
