Tetra Tech AMT is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to support a new FAA project focused on pre-departure planning and analytics. The role involves collaborating with aviation stakeholders, utilizing advanced statistics and machine learning to predict flight outcomes, and optimizing air traffic management processes.
Responsibilities:
• Establish a process for strategic deconfliction in collaboration with internal and external aviation stakeholders for a new FAA Traffic Flow Management Evolution Program for a potential “24/7” operation
• Use advanced statistics, modeling, and machine learning to predict outcomes and solve complex problems related to anticipating flight delays, flight cancellations, scheduling conflicts, and other aircraft/flight disruptions
• Support tasks that bridge the gap between complex mathematics and business strategy related to how an air traffic management (ATM) system would translate to lower fuel burden, less aircraft downtime, shorter block times, and faster flights
• Work 40 hours a week but potentially work late night shifts and weekends at times to cover overnight and weekend data modeling needs
• Document the FAA process, roles, and responsibilities to enable execution of strategic deconfliction process plan for day of operations in the National Airspace System (NAS)
• Work with FAA and industry vendor(s) who will architect and build the analytical data model and provide feedback as necessary
