Trans Lease is looking for a Credit Analyst I, II or III to join our growing team. We are open to candidates across multiple experience levels and will determine the appropriate level based on experience, credit judgment, and underwriting capabilities.


This is an opportunity for someone looking to develop their commercial underwriting expertise or for an experienced credit professional ready to independently evaluate complex equipment finance transactions. You'll work closely with Sales and other teams to evaluate credit risk, support customer relationships, and help drive sound and timely lending decisions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze and underwrite commercial credit applications using financial statements, tax returns, credit bureaus, personal financial statements, and other relevant information.
  • Evaluate borrower strength, cash flow, guarantor support, collateral, equipment values, and overall transaction risk.
  • Determine risk and provide clear, well-supported credit recommendations and decisions.
  • Approve, condition, decline, restructure, or escalate transactions within established authority, as applicable.
  • Work closely with Sales to support originations, manage customer relationships, and provide timely deal execution.
  • Develop strong knowledge of the commercial transportation and equipment finance industries.
  • Monitor customer financial performance, credit exposure, and emerging portfolio risks.
  • Manage multiple transactions while maintaining efficient turnaround times.
  • Support funding activities, including pricing and funding packages, as needed.
  • Participate in credit process improvements, special projects, and back-testing.
  • Provide mentoring, training, and guidance to other Credit Analysts, as applicable.
  • Contribute to credit policy, underwriting standards, and portfolio risk management at the senior level.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

  • Must be able to communicate, providing verbal and written feedback in a professional manner.
  • Requires frequent sitting, standing, balancing, bending, or stooping for prolonged periods of time.
  • Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment.
  • Requires normal range of hearing and vision to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Credit Analyst I

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Basic understanding of financial statements and strong analytical skills.
  • Ideal for someone looking to develop commercial credit and equipment finance underwriting expertise.

Credit Analyst II

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Typically 2-4 years of credit analysis or underwriting experience.
  • Ability to independently underwrite transactions and evaluate owner-dependent or limited-disclosure credits.
  • Independent approval authority up to $500,000.

Credit Analyst III

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or professional certification is a plus.
  • Typically 4+ years of equipment finance, commercial credit, or specialty lending experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to underwrite complex, higher-risk, and exception-based transactions.
  • Strong credit judgment with the ability to mentor and guide other analysts.
  • Approval authority up to $750,000, including appropriate policy exceptions and complex structures.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Equipment finance, leasing, commercial lending, or specialty lending experience.
  • Transportation industry experience.
  • Strong financial statement analysis and Excel skills.
  • Experience evaluating owner-dependent businesses and limited financial disclosure.
  • Strong communication, organization, and decision-making skills.
