About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Drafting/CAD Technician to support the design and development of precision semiconductor manufacturing equipment and optical systems. In this role, you will create detailed mechanical and optomechanical drawings used in high-precision, cleanroom-compatible environments. You will work closely with mechanical, optical, and process engineers to translate concepts into accurate, manufacturable designs and provide technical guidance to junior CAD staff.

What You'll Do

  • Create and maintain complex 2D and 3D CAD models and drawings for optomechanical components and assemblies
  • Produce detailed fabrication drawings including GD&T, materials, finishes, and cleanliness requirements
  • Support optical-mechanical integration by documenting alignment features, mounts, stages, and enclosures
  • Ensure drawings comply with company standards, semiconductor industry requirements, and configuration control processes
  • Manage drawing revisions, ECOs/ECNs, and PLM/PDM workflows
  • Perform drawing checks for accuracy, tolerance stack-ups, and completeness prior to release
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and suppliers to resolve design and documentation issues
  • Support prototype builds, as-built documentation, and design-for-manufacturability efforts
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior Drafting/CAD Technicians

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, Mechanical Design, Engineering Technology, or a related field
  • 3+ years of professional drafting/CAD experience in precision mechanical or optomechanical environments
  • Proficiency in mechanical CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo
  • Strong working knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
  • Experience creating detailed manufacturing drawings for machined and sheet metal parts
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and assembly drawings

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with semiconductor manufacturing equipment or optomechanical systems
  • Familiarity with cleanroom requirements, materials, and surface finishes
  • Experience with PLM/PDM systems (e.g., Windchill, Teamcenter, Agile)
  • Knowledge of tolerance analysis, thermal effects, and vibration considerations
  • Experience supporting prototype builds and production transitions
  • Experience with CNC machine tools and programming is a bonus!

This position does not support immigration sponsorship.  

The range for this position is $58,540.00 - $80,493.00  assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
