What does a junior cloud developer do?

A Junior Cloud Developer is an entry-level professional who assists in designing, developing, and maintaining applications or services that run on cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. They typically work under the guidance of senior developers to implement cloud-based solutions, write code, troubleshoot issues, and ensure that applications are scalable and secure. Their responsibilities may also include participating in code reviews, documenting processes, and learning best practices in cloud development.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a junior cloud developer?

To thrive as a Junior Cloud Developer, you need a solid grasp of programming languages (like Python or Java), knowledge of cloud platforms (such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud), and a relevant degree or certification. Familiarity with cloud management tools, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization technologies is highly beneficial. Strong problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and eagerness to learn help you adapt and collaborate within development teams. The Adventure Ahead

As a Senior Cloud Engineer I, you are the backbone of the infrastructure that powers Doceboโ€™s global learning platform! You will architect, scale, and secure our AWS-based environments using cutting-edge DevOps and Platform Engineering practices. By building resilient automation and optimizing systems like our FedRAMP-regulated environments, you will directly empower engineering teams to deploy faster and keep millions of learners seamlessly connected. Get ready to solve high-impact technical challenges, elevate our cloud strategy, and shape the future of AI-driven learning!

The Day-to-Day
  • Architect the Future: Own and evolve our AWS cloud infrastructure end-to-end, taking projects from initial blueprint through implementation and operations to guarantee ultra-high availability, performance, and scale.

  • Automate Everything: Design and implement self-service Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) templates and automation workflows that crush manual toil and give product teams superpowers.

  • Fortify the Platform: Elevate our cloud security posture by partnering with Security and Compliance teams to maintain audit-ready FedRAMP configurations, eliminate drift, and streamline patching.

  • Partner for Impact: Collaborate closely with Engineering to launch new services seamlessly, jump into high-priority incident responses, and turn post-mortem insights into platform upgrades.

  • Optimize and Observe: Master systems like Datadog to keep eyes on platform performance, driving decisions that optimize system resilience, speed, and cost-efficiency.

  • Level Up the Team: Inspire and mentor junior Cloud Engineers through code and design reviews, keeping Docebo at the forefront of modern cloud trends.

Your Superpowers
  • Cloud Mastery: Proven expertise managing complex, production-grade AWS infrastructure with 4โ€“8 years of experience in cloud systems or platform engineering.

  • Infrastructure as Code Ace: Intermediate to advanced mastery with IaC tooling like Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK to provision and scale complex environments.

  • Containerization & Linux Powerhouse: Hands-on proficiency with Linux, Docker, and running microservices on Kubernetes/EKS.

  • Observability & CI/CD Champion: Strong experience using Datadog (or similar observability tools) alongside Git/GitLab for seamless code delivery and automation.

  • DevOps Mindset & Scripting Skills: Solid understanding of DevOps methodologies paired with fluent scripting skills in Python, Bash, or Go.

  • Problem-Solving Superhero: Exceptional analytical skills, sharp attention to detail, and a collaborative, team-first approach to solving complex engineering problems.

Bonus Points
  • Compliance Ninja: Direct experience maintaining and patching FedRAMP-regulated or highly compliant cloud environments.

  • Academic Foundation: A Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent real-world experience).

Our Interview Process

Step 1: Weโ€™ll kick things off with a 30-minute video call with a member of our Talent team. Weโ€™ll get to know you, share more about the role and team, and make sure weโ€™re aligned.

Step 2: A 45-60-minute video call with the hiring manager, where theyโ€™ll dig deeper into your experience, approach, and what excites you most about this opportunity.

Step 3: A technical deep-dive and system design discussion with key members of our Cloud & Platform Engineering team.

Step 4: A final wrap-up conversation with engineering leadership to discuss team culture, growth, and next steps.

Our Hybrid Work Philosophy
