Job Description
Job Title: Senior Business Analyst - Accounting & Finance Conversions Location: Cleveland Experience: 8-12+ years Job Summary
The Senior Business Analyst will play a critical role in accounting and finance conversion initiatives for a large banking client. This role involves leading requirements analysis, data mapping, and functional design for system conversions, regulatory-driven transformations, and platform modernization programs. The candidate will act as a bridge between business stakeholders, finance teams, and technology delivery teams to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely conversions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead business analysis activities for accounting and finance system conversions, including core banking, GL, sub-ledger, and reporting platforms
  • Work closely with Finance, Accounting, Risk, and Operations stakeholders to gather and document business requirements
  • Analyze current-state vs. future-state processes, identifying gaps and impacts due to conversion
  • Define and document:
    • Business Requirements Documents (BRD)
    • Functional Requirements / User Stories
    • Data mapping and transformation rules
    • Reconciliation and validation requirements
  • Support chart of accounts mapping, journal entry logic, balances conversion, and historical data migration
  • Ensure alignment with banking regulations and accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS, SOX, Basel, etc.)
  • Partner with technology teams to clarify requirements and support solution design
  • Support SIT, UAT, and parallel run activities, including defect triage and resolution
  • Validate conversion results through reconciliations, variance analysis, and control checks
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior business analysts
  • Communicate status, risks, and dependencies to project leadership and client stakeholders

Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in Banking or Financial Services
  • Strong experience with accounting/finance system conversions or transformations
  • Solid understanding of:
    • General Ledger (GL)
    • Sub-ledgers (Loans, Deposits, Payments, Cards, etc.)
    • Financial close and reporting processes
  • Experience working with large-scale data migration and conversion programs
  • Strong knowledge of banking accounting principles and regulatory requirements
  • Proven ability to work with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with core banking platforms (e.g., Finacle, Temenos, FIS, Fiserv, Flexcube)
  • Exposure to ERP or finance platforms (Oracle Financials, SAP S/4HANA, PeopleSoft)
  • Experience with Agile and/or Waterfall delivery models
  • Prior consulting experience or client-facing role
  • Knowledge of data tools (SQL, Excel, reconciliation tools) is a plus

Compensation, Benefits and Duration
Minimum Compensation: USD 43,000
Maximum Compensation: USD 152,000
Compensation is based on actual experience and qualifications of the candidate. The above is a reasonable and a good faith estimate for the role.
