Job Description Summary

Assistant/Associate Professor (tenure track) to teach courses in biomedical engineering and related areas, develop an active externally funded research program in biomedical engineering, advise undergraduate and graduate students, and provide service to the department, university, and profession. Candidates with expertise in all areas of biomedical engineering are welcome, but preference will be given to candidates with expertise in the fields of biomechanics, biomaterials, and medical device design. Proposed research programs focusing on aging, AI-utilization, and other emerging techniques will be given priority. Appointment begins August, 2027.

Job Description

The Department of Chemical, Paper and Biomedical Engineering (CPB) at Miami University offers acollaborative interdisciplinary environment that fosters cutting-edge research and innovation. With a commitment to excellence in education, the department provides well-equipped laboratory facilities, access to diverse research initiatives, and a collaborative culture that integrates engineering principles with biomedical advancements.

The department is strengthening and expanding its research portfolio in biomedical engineering and is looking to fill a gap in biomechanics, but also desires to expand research in biomaterials and medical device design. Demonstrated research experience focused on aging-related application, AI utilization, or incorporating other cutting-edge methodology is important for this position.

CPB Faculty have access to several core facilities on campus including the Center for Advanced Microscopy and Imaging (CAMI), the Center for Bioinformatics and Functional Genomics, the Miami University Instrumentation Laboratory, the Miami University NMR/MS Facility, and the the RedHawk Computing Cluster.

For appointment as an Assistant Professor, applicants must have a doctorate in Biomedical Engineering or related field by the date of appointment.

For appointment as an Associate Professor, applicants must have a doctorate in Biomedical Engineering or related field by the date of appointment, and an established record of high-quality teaching and research funding.

Consideration may be given to candidates with demonstrated research expertise that aligns with areas targeted for departmental growth.
