We are looking for a highly motivated, technology focused individual with a passion to work on a collaborative software delivery team to enable the creation and management of Platforms and APIs deployed to the Ford mobility ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities Experience designing, developing, & operating distributed systems, microservices, & cloud-native applications using Java, Spring Boot, Kubernetes/EKS, Kafka, PostgreSQL, gRPC, REST, & AWS Cloud & DevOps Hands-on experience with CI/CD, TDD, ArgoCD, SonarQube, FOSSA, & GitHub, with a focus on secure, reliable software delivery. Commitment to writing clean, maintainable, well-tested code & validating API performance, scalability, & reliability. Experience implementing monitoring, alerting, observability, & performance management practices to maintain service health & meet service-level objectives. Ability to analyze complex challenges, evaluate tradeoffs, & make sound decisions using available data. Experience working in Agile teams & partnering with product managers, architects, & engineers to deliver production-ready solutions. Contribute to architecture & design discussions, promote engineering best practices, & mentor junior engineers. Customer-Centric Mindset: Passion for leveraging technology & continuous improvement to deliver value for customers & the business.
Skills RequiredJava - Java would be used to design and build RESTful and gRPC based microservices with Spring Boot. These Java applications would be packaged as Docker containers and deployed to Kubernetes/EKS clusters, with health-check endpoints and readiness/liveness probes to support reliable orchestration at scale. For real-time data processing, Java-based Kafka producers and consumers would handle streams of vehicle connectivity events. gRPC services would enable low-latency internal service-to-service communication alongside standard REST controllers for external-facing APIs. Security would be built into these services using OAuth2/JWT-based authentication and authorization. Throughout development, the engineer would follow TDD practices, plus integration tests to ensure clean, maintainable, well-tested code, and would instrument services with metrics and logging to support monitoring, alerting, and performance/load testing under high vehicle-connection volumes, given the mission-critical, 24x7 nature of the platform.
Skills PreferredAWS - AWS would serve as the core cloud infrastructure platform for deploying, scaling, and operating the connected vehicle services. Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) would host containerized microservices, with AWS-native tooling supporting autoscaling, load balancing, and networking to ensure resilient operation under high vehicle-connection volumes. Services would leverage other AWS offerings, such as S3 for storage, RDS for managed PostgreSQL databases, and IAM for fine-grained access control, to build a secure, observable, and highly available platform. Infrastructure as code would be a core discipline, with Terraform used to provision all AWS resources, ensuring consistent, repeatable, and auditable environments. CI/CD pipelines would leverage Concourse to automate build, test, static/dependency scanning (SonarQube, FOSSA), and deployment, with ArgoCD handling GitOps-based continuous deployment to EKS clusters for automated, auditable, and rollback-capable releases. Given the mission-critical, 24x7 nature of the platform, AWS services would be architected with redundancy, monitoring, and alerting to minimize downtime and support rapid incident response for vehicle connectivity at scale.
Experience Required5+ years of progressive experience in cloud-based, software development.Proven experience in designing, deploying, and supporting cloud-based solutions in production environments. Strong understanding of API design and integration methods for seamless systems and data exchange. Solid knowledge of cloud security principles and the ability to implement secure software solutions. Demonstrated experience supporting mission-critical, always-on applications with high reliability and performance standards. Hands-on expertise with AWS platforms and cloud-native tools such as MSK, Tyk, DataDog, EKS/Kubernetes, and Terraform, as well as deployment pipelines like Cloud Build, ArgoCD and Tekton. Proficient in canary deployments and API-related technologies including JSON, REST, Swagger, and Postman. Experience supporting critical applications in an 'always on' environment.
Education RequiredBachelor's Degree
Education PreferredMaster's Degree
