React Native Lead – Mobile Engineering

Location: Atlanta, GA (Mon to Thu in Office)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on React Native Lead to drive the architecture, development, and delivery of next-generation mobile applications across iOS and Android platforms. This role will provide technical leadership for mobile engineering initiatives, ensuring scalable architecture, exceptional user experiences, high-quality code standards, and successful delivery of business-critical mobile solutions.

The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in React Native, mobile application architecture, native platform development, and modern engineering practices with proven experience leading teams in Agile environments. This individual will collaborate closely with Product, UX/UI Design, Backend Engineering, QA, and DevOps teams to deliver performant, secure, and engaging mobile experiences.


Key Responsibilities

Mobile Architecture & Technical Leadership

  • Lead the architecture, design, and development of mobile applications using React Native for both iOS and Android platforms.
  • Define and implement scalable, maintainable, and high-performance mobile application architectures.
  • Establish engineering standards, coding guidelines, design patterns, and best practices for mobile development.
  • Drive technical decision-making and provide architectural guidance across mobile initiatives.
  • Ensure mobile solutions meet requirements for scalability, security, maintainability, and performance.

Application Development & Delivery

  • Design, develop, and deploy enterprise-grade mobile applications with a focus on reliability, responsiveness, and user experience.
  • Build pixel-perfect, responsive, and intuitive user interfaces that align closely with UX/UI designs.
  • Develop reusable components, shared libraries, and frameworks to accelerate development and maintain consistency.
  • Implement complex business workflows, integrations, and mobile-first customer experiences.
  • Collaborate with backend teams to integrate RESTful APIs, GraphQL services, and microservice-based architectures.

Performance Optimization & Native Integration

  • Optimize application performance to deliver native-like experiences across devices and operating systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering issues, and application crashes.
  • Leverage native platform capabilities through Swift, Objective-C, Kotlin, and Java when required.
  • Integrate native modules, third-party SDKs, and platform-specific functionality.
  • Ensure efficient application startup times, smooth navigation, and responsive user interactions.

State Management & Application Architecture

  • Implement scalable state management solutions using Redux, Redux Toolkit, Context API, or similar frameworks.
  • Design robust application architectures supporting asynchronous API interactions, offline capabilities, caching, and error handling.
  • Apply modern architectural patterns such as MVC, MVVM, Clean Architecture, and Feature-Based Architecture where appropriate.
  • Ensure proper separation of concerns and maintainable code organization.

Agile Delivery & Team Leadership

  • Lead mobile engineering teams through Agile development processes, including: Sprint Planning; Daily Stand-Ups; Backlog Grooming; Sprint Reviews; Retrospectives
  • Partner with Product Managers and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Track project progress, identify risks, and drive timely delivery of milestones.
  • Provide technical leadership and support across the software development lifecycle.

Quality Engineering & DevOps

  • Ensure comprehensive testing strategies including: Unit Testing; Component Testing; Integration Testing; End-to-End Testing
  • Promote automated testing and quality engineering best practices.
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to implement CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing, and deployments.
  • Drive release management and mobile app deployment processes across App Store and Google Play platforms.

Mentorship & Talent Development

  • Mentor and coach junior and mid-level developers on React Native, mobile architecture, and engineering best practices.
  • Conduct code reviews and technical design reviews to maintain high-quality engineering standards.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and technical skill development initiatives.

Innovation & Technology Leadership

  • Stay current with emerging React Native, iOS, Android, and mobile technology trends.
  • Evaluate new frameworks, tools, libraries, and development methodologies.
  • Engage with the React Native ecosystem and contribute to knowledge sharing within the organization.
  • Drive continuous improvements in development processes, performance optimization, and engineering productivity.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of software development experience with at least 4+ years focused on React Native mobile application development.
  • 2+ years of experience leading mobile engineering teams or serving in a technical leadership capacity.
