Job description

Defense Mission Expert

As a Defense Mission Expert, you'll use your deep expertise in special operations, rapid prototyping, and defense acquisition to drive high-impact mission outcomes. Your expertise helps you think bigger, push further, and ask the tough questions that shape stronger solutions. Your mission insight and advisory skills will guide teams as they solve complex client challenges and strengthen national security.

How You'll Contribute:

  • Leverage expertise to the United States Special Operations Forces.
  • Lead high-priority defense and SOF initiatives using Special Operations expertise, leveraging a proven record of results-driven leadership in complex and sensitive mission environments.
  • Guide rapid prototyping and capability development efforts, translating operational gaps and end-user needs into tangible solutions through hands-on systems integration from concept to fielding.
  • Advise and execute on DoD acquisition strategies, serving as a knowledgeable expert on FAR/OTA contract vehicles and applying experience as a COR/AOR overseeing multimillion-dollar portfolios.
  • Drive lean-agile project and program management, ensuring mission-critical initiatives are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget through disciplined planning, risk management, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Engage directly with end users, conducting ground-truth assessments, gathering requirements, and ensuring delivered solutions are operationally relevant, tested under real-world constraints, and primed for adoption.
  • Strengthen mission readiness and competitive posture, bringing deep expertise in drone-based operations, competition-phase problem sets, and field-driven innovation to help clients outpace emerging threats.
  • Coordinate cross-functional defense teams, integrating operators, engineers, acquisition specialists, and senior stakeholders across diverse mission sets to accelerate decision-making and capability deployment.
  • Support enterprise transformation, applying lessons learned from Special Operations, rapid prototyping, and technical program management to improve processes, enhance operational resilience, and deliver measurable mission outcomes.

  • 15+ years of experience with SOF operational leadership, planning, rapid capability development, and mission execution
  • Experience executing DoD acquisition pathways, OTA or FAR procurement, and contract oversight
  • Experience working directly with operators across USSOCOM, AFSOC, JSOC, and SOF components
  • Experience in leadership of multi-disciplinary teams such as operators, engineers, analysts, or developers
  • Ability to drive Army and SOF modernization, tech prototyping, mission analysis, and enterprise integration
  • Ability to prepare budget estimates, manage spend plans, and support PPBE-aligned resource planning
  • Ability to brief senior Army and SOF leaders and provide actionable, operationally grounded guidance
  • TS/SCI clearance
  • Bachelor's degree

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience applying AI/ML, autonomy, sensing technology, and mesh networking to SOF mission requirements.
  • Experience with cross-CCMD integration, SOF enterprise capability alignment, and prototyping pipelines
  • Master's degree

Compensation at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $86,800.00 to $198,000.00 (annualized USD).
