About the Opportunity
Acara Solutions is seeking a Principal Facilities & Manufacturing Systems Engineer to lead facility infrastructure, manufacturing systems, capital projects, commissioning, startup, and operational readiness at its Portland manufacturing facility.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead engineering projects involving manufacturing equipment, facility infrastructure, utilities, and process support systems.
  • Manage project scope, budget, schedule, resources, risks, contractors, and technical deliverables.
  • Lead equipment installation, integration, commissioning, startup, and operational readiness.
  • Assess facility and utility readiness for new and modified manufacturing systems.
  • Troubleshoot complex facility, equipment, and manufacturing system issues.
  • Lead risk assessments including PHA, FMEA, JHA/JSA, and MOC.
  • Support systems including process piping, fluid handling, filtration, UPW, wastewater, process gases, chemical distribution, HVAC, exhaust, BMS, PLC/SCADA, and cleanroom infrastructure.
  • Develop SOPs, work instructions, engineering standards, startup/shutdown procedures, and maintenance documentation.
  • Partner with Operations, Facilities, EHS, Quality, Supply Chain, and external contractors.
  • Drive reliability, maintainability, standardization, and continuous improvement.
  • Support environmental, health, safety, regulatory, permitting, and audit requirements.

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related field.

  • Commissioning and qualification experience, including IQ/OQ/PQ.
  • PE license.
  • PMP certification.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification.
